CHESTERFIELD made a winning start to his hurdling career when landing a 2m novices' contest at Worcester in July and although he then returned a beaten favourite at Market Rasen, he still sets the form standard and remains the one to beat, despite his penalty. Say When is slowly improving with experience and is no forlorn hope for a place, while John Biscuit was rated 87 on the Flat at his peak so is interesting on his hurdling bow.

Saddlers Deal drops back in distance after turning in a moderate display at Market Rasen, but he is 10lb higher than his win over 2m4f here at the start of last month. C&D winner CHESTNUT BEN is potentially better treated, if match-fit on his return from a 291-day absence, as he's only 2lb higher than his last-time-out success at Newbury. The Last Night could also make his presence felt if rediscovering his best chase form from the spring.

GIMME FIVE has held his form well since striking at Uttoxeter in June and his latest effort, when defeated by under a length over the extended 2m2f at Fontwell following the fitting of cheekpieces, probably rates as a career best. Alan King's charge sets a clear form standard and is expected to triumph in the retained headgear. Officer Drivel is improving with experience and is considered the main danger ahead of Plumpton second Witch From Rome and Flat winner Roman Riches, who debuts over timber.

Lysino has been knocking hard on the door in recent months and wouldn't be winning out of turn, however, the hood worn on his last five starts has been dispensed with. Preference is instead for ADMIRAL HAWKE, who had kicked into a clear lead when falling two out at Southwell and would have been in a strong position to collect had he stayed on his feet. If those exertions haven't taken their toll, he can defy a 4lb rise to bounce back. Chase debutant A Tail Of Intrigue represents an in-form stable and is also worth a market check.

Johnny McGeeney is very interesting on his debut for an in-form David Pipe stable, having won a decent Punchestown event when last seen in handicap company. However, that was back in 2011 and his three Flat outings this year have been nothing to write home about, so the safest option appears to be DEADLY STING. John Butler's five-year-old narrowly failed to follow up his maiden hurdle victory at Uttoxeter on his handicap bow over the same C&D a fortnight ago and, with further progress on the cards, a 4lb rise may not prevent him bouncing back. Triumphant let down favourite-backers at Plumpton but this is easier and the step back up in trip should help.

TORRAN SOUND has been threatening to score off this mark and a break may have freshened up him. In a moderate contest, he receives narrow preference ahead of Spanish Fork, who filled the runner-up spot in a similar contest at Newton Abbot last month before keeping sharp with a spin on the Flat at Kempton. Vendredi Trois has failed to land a blow in three novice hurdles but should take much closer order now switched to the handicaps ranks.

ROGUE DANCER has found form for his new stable this summer and was well supported to follow up his Uttoxeter win off 13lb higher at Market Rasen, but a mistake at the third-last proved costly and he had to settle for third. The fourth has won since, however, and this looks a good opportunity for Lawney Hill's charge to bounce back off the same mark, possibly at the main expense of Flemi Two Toes, a C&D winner who has slipped back to his last winning figure. The switch to a handicap may spark improvement from Abbeygrey.
