MALLER TREE is turned out under a penalty after scoring over 2m6f at Newton Abbot on Saturday and is expected to figure if that race hasn't taken too much out of him. The main danger may be Mazurati, who went down by under a length on his handicap bow at Southwell and should remain competitive following a 6lb rise. The pick of the remainder may be recent Stratford third He's A Bully, who has since been dropped 2lb.

ARTHUR'S OAK attracted support when third over 2m at Sandown in February and is expected to improve on that effort, off an unchanged mark, now granted this stiffer rest. Noble Legend looks to be coming to the boil and followed up his Leicester second by filling the same spot over a slightly longer trip at Newbury. Viva Steve hasn't been seeing out his races on heavy ground or over longer distances but is another to consider with conditions here expected to be less demanding.

Top of The Glas returned a beaten favourite at Carlisle on Saturday, finishing second behind a clear-cut winner. However, Brian Ellison's grey remains on a workable mark and wouldn't need to improve a great deal in order to get his head in front. Lucky Jim appeared outpaced at Wetherby but could go close, although preferred ahead of both is Dan Skelton's handicap debutant SEA THE SPRINGS, who is entitled to improve now fitted with first-time cheekpieces.

Murtys Delight steps up in trip after finishing second in a 2m3f selling hurdle at Exeter last week and could improve for this stiffer test, though of more interest is COSWAY SPIRIT, who was eased down when slamming a Towcester field by upwards of 16 lengths and may be able to defy a hefty rise in the handicap if returning in a similar mood. Clubs Are Trumps was all out to score over C&D but the handicapper hasn't reacted harshly and he is one to consider again after a 3lb rise, with first-time cheekpieces now applied.

Nicolas Chauvin sets the standard on his 11-length maiden victory at Fakenham in November and probably ran to a similar level of form when third at Doncaster last time. Nicky Henderson's seven-year-old has to give weight away all around but is expected to finish on the premises. For win purposes, however, a chance is taken on JOHN CONSTABLE, who is rated 92 on the Flat and made a winning start over hurdles at Ludlow in January. He gets 6lb from Nicolas Chauvin, and that could be crucial. Rising Breeze should be wiser for the experience gained on debut at Kempton.

KNOCK HOUSE was far from disgraced when fifth in a novices' handicap chase at the Festival and may be able to break through now stepped up in distance. Strictly at the weights, he has a few pounds to find with Salmanazar, though that rival is often held up and might not get a strong pace to chase here. He is also fitted with a first-time hood as he bids to leave behind a moderate Uttoxeter run. Heronry has claims on his earlier chase efforts, but his more recent form is off-putting.

No No Manolito sets the standard on his Fontwell romp on debut and should be thereabouts, likewise Heresmynumber, who took a forward step when second at Ludlow and appears to be improving with experience. In receipt of weight from the aforementioned pair, however, Philip Hobbs' representative MISTER BIG is preferred. He changed hands for 40,000 euros last year and appeals on breeding, being a half-brother to Somersby.
