Claude Carter has finished second on each of his last four starts and with his lack of winning conviction is a slight concern, it might be worth siding with PARC DES PRINCES. The Nicky Richards charge has been raised 9lb for his recent distance success at Bangor but the five-year-old won with plenty in hand and is taken to record back-to-back victories. Toshi clearly sets the form standard but must defy top weight while Knight Valliant looks a tasty each-way bet at the forecast prices.

A positive market move for the Donald McCain newcomer, Lexi's Boy, would be interesting as the 76-rated Flat horse is switched to timber. Preference, however, is for the winning form of LADY CHLOE after she shaped well when recording a five-length success at Stratford on her hurdling debut. The filly was well fancied on that occasion and connections clearly hold the daughter of Noverre in high-regard, although don't rule out the chances of Blake Dean in the first-time cheekpieces.

If PALACE MERANO is ready to roll on his seasonal reappearance, he could surprise a few here with conditions back in his favour. He displayed little last term on soft ground but is taken to give a good account of himself having been dropped in class and his revised rating of 112 looks a workable one. He is likely to be given plenty to think about by Itzacliche and Toulouse Express, who can boast winning form on their most recent outings.

All eyes will be on the 135-rated Aikman as he makes his seasonal bow but while he is likely to prove very popular, preference is for ARCTIC COURT. The Jim Goldie charge was runner-up to the useful Liberate when last sighted at Haydock in May and, fresh from a summer break, the seven-year-old can continue on an upward curve here. Elsewhere, there should be plenty more to come from The Starboard Bow and he is worthy of close consideration.

Dianne Sayer has enjoyed a successful season on the Flat with the progressive Hot Rod Mamma and could have another on ready to put a winning sequence together in the shape of ENDEAVOR, who remains well handicapped despite a 5lb rise for success at Uttoxeter last time out. Henry Brooke keeps the ride aboard this gelded son of Selkirk and there could be more to come. Dar Es Salaam was by no means disgraced when third at Wetherby in June and must be taken seriously, along with Prince Tam.

Sedgefield winner NORTHERN ACRES remains on an upward curve and went close to defying his revised mark at Perth recently. There could be more to come and a bold bid is anticipated on ground which clearly suits. He gets the nod ahead of Tinseltown and Itstooearly, who are beginning look well treated again.

GUNS AND BUTTER went down by just a neck at Cartmel in August and he remains off what looks an attractive mark of 83. He appeared to relish in the soft surface on that occasion but the good ground predicted here shouldn't pose many problems and the step up in trip looks ideal. Some Catch returns to the larger obstacles, over which she appears most effective, and, along with Frontier Boy, commands the utmost respect.

The well-bred GROOVY DANCER made a winning debut over this trip at Sedgefield in May and looks the one to be on now returning from a break, before she is likely sent over hurdles. The Weatherman looks the main danger after an encouraging C&D debut in May. Donald McCain's charge is a half-brother to the stable's winning hurdler Dorabelle and is entitled to improve with the benefit of that run now behind him. Winning pointer Bawn Reagh is another to consider.
