Transfix is worth more than a cursory glance on her handicap debut but a commendable level of consistency earns THE WONGA COUP the vote. Pat Phelan's five-year-old made the frame for the fifth race in succession when runner-up at Wolverhampton and his last try at this trip resulted in a win at Bath. Barachiel steps up from a mile after being done for pace at Lingfield, whereas Edgware Road didn't stay 1m4f there and is better judged on his three previous second-placings.

Polar Kite sets the standard on ratings, even if his figure has plummeted thanks to four lacklustre displays this year. That regressive profile means he can't be backed with confidence, though, and Irish import FAIRY WING has enjoyed a far more profitable 2012 so is fancied to make a successful start for Conor Dore. Fathsta goes well here and April Fool showed up for a fair way at Lingfield last week so is respected as well.

Plenum and El Buen Turista should build on encouraging first efforts but they will need to progress markedly to get the better of SAVED BY THE BELL. Brian Meehan's youngster left an ordinary Warwick introduction behind to go under by just a neck at Sandown in September and if he can reproduce that level of performance on the all-weather, it should suffice. The John Gosden-trained Tebee's Oasis hails from a smart family and is the most interesting of the newcomers.

SILLABUB gave favourite-backers a good run for their money on her Newmarket debut, eventually finishing third, and she shouldn't need to replicate that level of form to go two better here. She is related to an American Grade 1 dirt winner, too, so the artificial surface shouldn't trouble her. Argent Knight and Handiwork will be winning before too long but the principal threat could come from the unraced brigade, namely David Lanigan's Derby entry Tinghir.

Songbird Blues keeps hitting the crossbar and may have to settle for minor honours again on her return from a break because STORM RUNNER justified co-favouritism to end a bit of a drought at Lingfield and a 2lb rise may prove lenient. Green Earth has rediscovered some form and the application of a visor need only spark slight improvement for him to take a hand in the finish. Rapid Water has a hood on for the first time and also merits respect.

EMULATING was fancied to make his handicap debut a winning one at Lingfield and while he could only manage third, he didn't enjoy the most straightforward of runs and compensation awaits. Be On The Bell sprung a 20/1 Wolverhampton surprise and the runner-up has since gone close again so the form is fair. Eastern Dragon will appreciate the return to Polytrack after flopping at Southwell, and he was just ahead of Gracious George when second here in October.

Haaf A Sixpence is very interesting on his first appearance since a Salisbury mishap back in May, and he won when fresh before that. Even so, recent match practice gives the edge to DELFT, who maintained her solid level of consistency when chasing home a well-ridden winner at Lingfield and there is joy to be had with her off this sort of rating. George Baker has hit top gear recently and did it well over a mile here last month. Atlantis Crossing and Roy The Boy enter the reckoning as well.

WELEASE BWIAN deserved more for his efforts on turf this summer, but he has a win and two seconds from three all-weather starts so the switch back to this surface could do the trick. Fortrose Academy has found a similar level of consistency over 7f and is worth another try at this distance. Dropping back in trip will definitely be in Lastkingofscotland's favour, while Roy's Legacy found some form again at Lingfield last week and is a contender if he can back it up.
