The Saeed Bin Suroor-trained VOLCANIC WIND showed plenty of encouraging signs when a half-length second on his racecourse debut over 1m at Thirsk last month and, entitled to have learnt plenty from that initial experience, he is fancied to go one better this evening. Far East warrants plenty of respect following her promising introduction at Lingfield, while Eltifaat and Tropics are others to consider.

Aglaophonos, Silca's Dream and Green Monkey are all interesting newcomers and the betting market could prove best guide to their respective chances. However, FERJAAN's past experience may just give him the edge. John Gosden's charge has improved in each of his three visits to the racecourse thus far, finishing second over C&D last time, and further progression is sure to see him prove hard to beat this evening.

Fraserburgh is the most experienced of these with four runs under his belt and has certainly shown enough promise to expect a big performance, but MUNDAHESH looks the one to beat. The form of his debut third at Yarmouth last month has been boosted with the fifth and ninth winning since and he is sure to mount a bold bid this evening if stepping forward from that effort. Newcastle runner-up Exactement cannot be ruled out either.

LEA VALLEY BLACK looks to have plenty going for him here. Tom Dascombe's gelding won with plenty to spare in selling company at Musselburgh latest and showed a liking for the polytrack surface when landing a Wolverhampton maiden two starts earlier. Imperial Oak comes out some way clear on official ratings and must have a chance if recapturing the form of his seven length Chepstow success early last month, while Moonlit Dancer and Warrant Officer are others to note.

The 105-rated Luhaif commands respect as the highest-rated runner in the field on official figures and a reproduction of the form which saw him chase home the smart Olympic Glory in a Goodwood Group 2 would entitle him to go well here, albeit now granted an extra furlong. Preference, however, is for Godolphin's SNOWBOARDER, a Raven's Pass colt who has progressed with each run on polytrack and posted a career-best when second in a C&D conditions event latest. Beedee and Oasis Cannes are feared most of the remainder.

Although he's recently lost his way on grass after progressing very nicely on polytrack last winter, OASIS DANCER is taken to strike now returned to this surface. Ralph Beckett's gelding is a Listed winner over 6f but stays this trip just as well and is taken to return to winning ways. Yaa Wayl and Belgian Bill are smart but, like the improving Triple Charm, have wide berths to overcome. A bigger danger may thus be dual course (1m) winner Burj Alzain, who drops back into handicaps off a workable mark and is better drawn in stall 5.

A trappy heat in which several look closely matched based on their recent form. Roc De Prince was beaten by 8l into second over C&D last month and needs to find some improvement to go one better while Salisbury third Multilateral reaches back for the hood in an attempt to elicit some immediate improvement. Perhaps it might be worth taking a chance on MOHAIR improving for this stiffer test, on the back of creditable one-paced efforts around 1m on polytrack the last twice.

Volcanic Jack started the year in a sprint handicap at this track but the emphasis is very much on stamina rather than speed as he tackles 2m for the first time tonight. Judging by his staying on fourth over 1m4f at Wolverhampton latest, he is at least worth a try at the trip, but preference is instead for RODRIGO DE FREITAS, who has placed over C&D in the past and returned to form when third at Lingfield latest. Reggie Perrin has placed hurdles form to his name and can battle it out with Ostentation for the minor money.
