SHAKERVILZ made a highly encouraging start to his hurdling career when only finding one too good at Punchestown last time and he is fancied to put that experience to good use and take this. It is likely that we have yet to see the best two-time bumper winner Rocco's Hall over hurdles and he is respected, along with Punchestown second Happiness Is Free.

SAVE THE BACON stands out on the formbook having produced his best effort to date when filling the runners-up spot at Navan last time. Dropped back into maiden company today, the Tony Martin trained 8-y-o is fancied to get his head in front. Bumper winner Our Matti is of interest on his first start over hurdles, while Thurles third Jimmy Ber and Ridge Boy are others worthy of a mention.

Baily View put the experience gained on debut to good use when staying on well to land the spoils at Punchestown last time, while Marseillais gained a much deserved success at Limerick and should be able to make his presence felt again. However, the one who takes the eye is MONTANA BAY who was last seen over hurdles when finishing fifth behind Sizing Europe back in April and having run well over fences last time, he makes plenty of appeal as he bids to make a winning return to hurdles.

Splurge has been in cracking form in recent months and he looks sure to give another good account of himself despite a 4lb rise for last month's narrow C&D defeat. Acorn Hollow is also highly respected, but the vote goes to ZANDERI. He's 8lb higher than for a Cork victory in October when last seen, but he was value for more than the official winning margin that day and his Coral Cup entry gives a fair indication as to the regard in which he must be held by connections.

A cracking contest in prospect. Chelsea Harbour highlighted his Grand National credentials with a taking victory over 3m4f at Punchestown last month and Slim Pickings also has Aintree aspirations of his own having finished third in the marathon contest last year. Preference, however, is for the Noel Meade-trained WHATABOUTYA, who looks a very well-handicapped animal on the form of his close-up second to Lexus Chase runner-up Mossbank at Limerick in October.

LENREY made light work of a Naas novice chase last month, as he was entitled to do on the form of his head second to Sky's The Limit over this C&D on Boxing Day. With that first chase victory bound to have done his confidence some good, he could be a tough nut to crack today. Perce Rock looked a very tired horse when taking a crashing fall at the final flight here last month but the drop back in trip is sure to suit and he remains a horse of some potential. Dark Artist, who's performed with credit in all three starts since winning on his chasing debut at Thurles, was only narrowly denied in a Grade 2 last month and is another must for any short-list.

Zarinava was heavily backed on her racecourse debut here in January and although ultimately disappointing on that occasion, it will be interesting to see how he fares in the betting market today. There are several intruiging newcomers in this field though, most notably No Pasa Nada and ECHO BOB. Slight preference is for Henry De Bromhead's charge, who holds a bumper entry at the Punchestown Festival in April.
