A pretty hot contest as five runners come here after winning last time out. Michael Hourigan's MAXI has beaten Port Jeff, who has won a decent race since, and was only 2l behind Whataboutya, who is another consistent sort. He could score a hat-trick here this afternoon. A horse that has already achieved that is Coin Man, who has won over a variety of trips but the going could scupper his chances as he ran a shocker on this ground in May. Davenport Democrat is another seeking a four-timer today; he too has won over varying distances but could be starting to feel the effects of a long season.

Joanna Morgan's JIGALO gets the vote here. The 5-y-o has shown vast improvement this season and can follow up his Sligo victory, where the addition of cheekpieces seemed to do the trick and he wears them again today. Paul Nolan's Zaydar comes here after a spin on the flat at Wexford and will appreciate a return to hurdling, although he would not want any rain. Pearl's A Singer gained her first success over hurdles at Listowel in the mud. Unlike Zaydar, the more rain that falls the better her chances.

SILENT JO, once with Godolphin on the Flat, can make it three wins out of four starts this season by taking this. A close second last time over 2m here, the slight step-up in trip should help him get back to winning ways, although he wouldn't need any more rain. Daramas comes here after winning over 2m at Tipperary and poses a danger while proven mudlark Undergraduate would come into the reckoning with further rain. Dreux hasn't won for some time but has been running in much better company and must come into consideration in this company.

Tom Taaffe has two good runners here in the shape of Whenever Wherever and LAMIABREN, with the latter getting the vote. The selection came right over this trip at Downpatrick recently and can win again under Niall Madden. Whenever Wherever also won last time out in a 2m4f contest at Listowel. She can prove a threat to the selection if she takes to this longer trip. Ilringuback showed immense improvement when taking a 3m contest at Cork last week and also comes into the reckoning.

C&D winner BOTHAR NA can defy a 9lb penalty for his recent success at Listowel and win this for trainer Willie Mullins. Ruby Walsh seems to get the best out of this horse and is booked to ride again today. Pearly Jack was only 2l behind the selection last time and has to be respected from his light weight. Paul Nolan's Dix Villez has won over today's trip and should go well providing he hasn't lost his confidence following a crashing fall when still in contention at Galway.

Sherry Fitzgerald O'Malley Chase (Lstd)

A small but select field for this 2m1f chase with one of last year's most exciting novices, JUSTIFIED, making his seasonal debut under AP McCoy. He won first time out last season so goes well fresh but Gemini Lucy could give him something to do. She is seeking her fourth win on the bounce but has a slight question mark over her ability to handle a softer surface; Tumbling Dice and Arteea are no forlorn hopes but do have a bit to find.

17:15 Limerick (IRE) (5YO plus)

Pricewaterhousecoopers Beginners Chase

Winner £8,918 - 16 ran

Some decent sorts line up for this beginners chase, but the one they have to beat is MOUNTHENRY. Only a length behind the classy Nicanor in Punchestown's Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle last season, he is clearly a class act who is expected to be just as effective over the larger obstacles. 2005 Cheltenham Festival winner Oulart makes his seasonal reappearance and should represent the biggest danger, while Knight Legend is fancied to improve for his recent debut in this sphere and appeals as best of the rest.

17:45 Limerick (IRE) (5YO to 7YO)

Scarvagh House Stud (M) Flat Race

This could be an opportunity for MUSICAL MIST to lose her maiden tag. She showed improvement last time when second at Wexford over this distance, but was unlucky to be beaten half a length. Peach Royale has also been placed over 2m2f so has to be taken into consideration. The other horse with some proven form is Carraig Na Gcapall who could improve for the step up in trip.
