Kyleakin Lass and Lady Gibraltar have both been going well in defeat in maiden company but the handicapper has given them no room for error here, unlike SAFARI STORM, who made the frame off a 9lb higher mark in a much better contest at Goodwood in the summer. Brian Meehan's charge hasn't troubled the judge in four outings since but he has been mixing in better company than this and could be ready to capitalise on the assessor's leniency today. Art Show completes the shortlist.

After knocking hard on the door in recent months, Miss Astragal is sure to prove a popular selection but Richard Hannon's charge has had plenty of chances and it could pay to take her on, possibly with STRATHNAVER. Ed Dunlop's inmate built on her debut when a decent fourth over 7f here latest, when she finished a head of a subsequent winner (as well as the reopposing So Cheeky), and she shaped as though this extra furlong would be right up her street. Keep an eye on the market for clues about the newcomers, especially Sir Mark Prescott's Between Us, a half-sister to five winners including French Oaks winner Confidential Lady.

Those with previous experience don't set the bar too high and NEWS DESK could be capable of making the headlines on her debut. John Gosden's youngster is related to some useful sorts and her dam was placed in Group company as a juvenile, while her trainer has a 25 per cent strike-rate on the polytrack here this season. It's A Girl Thing relished the step up in trip when fourth over 1m on her second start and shaped like there could be more to come, while it would be foolish to rule out Tina's Spirit and Chignon. The latter disappointed at Wolverhampton over 7f on debut but clearly needed the experience and Sir Henry Cecil's charge could have much more to offer now.

Dr Livingstone scored in this grade over 1m4f on his all-weather return at Kempton last week and should go well again here. That was a messy race, however, with none of the four contestants wanting to make the running and the form may not be too reliable. Junoob also landed a 1m4f claimer at Kempton last time out but only just got the better of BEAT THE BLUES, and the latter can turn the tables on 3lb better terms today. Alan McCabe's charge just ran out of gas in the closing stages and should relish the drop in trip, while further progress could be in the offing after only three starts.

Hurricane Spirit ended a long drought with a narrow victory at Kempton last week but could have his work cut out under a 7lb penalty. A length back in third that day was the in-form Lisahane Bog and Peter Hedger's charge could gain revenge with a 6lb swing in the weights, but the vote goes to FOCAIL MAITH, who performed with credit when bidding to defy a 5lb rise for his ready C&D success on soft ground at Nottingham last month. Back on this surface, he can continue his progress.

SIR GEOFFREY returned to form with a good third in a competitive 6f handicap at Wolverhampton last month and, off a 1lb lower mark, he could take advantage of this drop in class. There are no shortest of dangers, however, with Lujeanie also arriving on the back of a good effort in a higher grade and Judd Street expected to go close now back at his optimum trip. Billy Red has been performing well in defeat all year and looks a solid each-way bet.

A tricky finale for punters to solve but there is plenty to like about the chances of AINE'S DELIGHT, a useful jumper who chased home Celestial Halo in a Grade 2 hurdle last month. Andy Turnell's representative has two Flat wins to her name and was narrowly held over an inadequate 1m2f on the polytrack here in June, so it would be no surprise to see her go one better over this longer trip. Rosco Flyer is back off a fair mark now but the biggest danger may be Formidable Guest, runner-up over an extra furlong here latest but 3lb higher now.
