SIR CHAUVELIN won a similar contest by some seven lengths on his hurdling debut in November and was deemed good enough to contest a Grade 2 at Doncaster last time, running third. This represents a steep drop in class for Jim Goldie's charge and the son of Authorized can get back to winning ways. Magic Dancer was more than useful of the Flat for Ralph Beckett and is entitled to have come forward for his fifth-placed effort and first hurdles outing at Warwick, while Sikandar is another to keep on side.

CLAUDE CARTER is one of three course winners in the field and he almost regained the winning thread when denied by a mere head at Catterick last time out. Raised 3lb for that much-improved performance, Callum Whillans negates that in the saddle and another bold showing looks assured under a light weight. You can't help but be drawn towards Gingili's profile given he is four wins from five starts under Rules and the lightly-raced Beat All gelding is noted along with Kings Folly.

DOCTOR PHOENIX looked to find the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup a step too far recently, but he has time on his side and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him bounce back in a first-time tongue-tie. The experienced Rathlin might be vulnerable to the improving selection but has been highly tried and can give a better account at this level. The Irish raider Colms Dream has been in excellent form and it will be interesting to see how he fares from a mark of 136.

Last-time-out C&D winner ARISTO DU PLESSIS improved at a rate of knots last year and a 13lb hike in the weights for his latest success might not be enough to halt his progress if he gets an easy lead. The main danger could be Zaidiyn, who was narrowly denied at Haydock in November and remains unexposed over hurdles. Strongpoint landed this prize two years ago and is hopefully none the worse after he was brought down at the first fence on Town Moor.

A very tricky affair, in which it could be best to forgive WAKHAN'S mishap last time out. He regularly finds himself in the frame, including on his sole start over C&D. It would not be a surprise to see Treliver Manor to improve on his first try over fences as he is bred to appreciate the larger obstacles. Vision De La Vie looks to be the pick of the remainder.

Maraweh clearly arrives here in good form, having won four of his last five starts, but life is a lot tougher for him after he was raised 13lb for his latest success. SNAPPING TURTLE has been knocking on the door of late and he only found one too good last time, that rival had been progressive on the Flat prior to that. There is not much that we don't know about the 11-year-old but he has proven to be a fairly reliable performer of late. Others to note include Donna's Diamond, Five In A Row and Sir Vinski.
