LEMON DROP RED made a promising start to his hurdling career when chasing home Triumph Hurdle hope, Ranjaan, at Kempton last month (that pair pulled 19-lengths clear of the remainder) and, with improvement expected, he looks the one to beat. Makbullet faces a much easier assignment than when eighth in a handicap here latest and warrants plenty of respect, while Artisan, Bowdler's Magic and High Office make up the shortlist.
Lemon Drop Red made a most encouraging start over hurdles at Kempton and will be hard to beat here with a reproduction of that form. Makbullet is the pick of the remainder on hurdles efforts, though pretty useful Flat performers Bowdler's Magic and High Office should have more to give in this sphere.

Talented bumper and hurdles performer, CHARMINSTER, overcame several jumping errors to finish a close second on his chasing debut at Sedgefield last month and, if more fluent over the obstacles today, he will prove a tough nut to crack. Bogside still held every chance when unseating Jan Faltejsek two from home at Sedgefield recently and can mount a bold bid providing this doesn't come too soon, while Vosges cannot be ruled out at his favourite track.
Charminster was just about the pick of these over hurdles and is taken to build on the promise of last month's chasing debut second at Sedgefield, though the likes of Bogside and Vosges will ensure he doesn't have it all his own way.

Red Skipper produced his best effort over hurdles thus far when runner-up at Sedgefield last month and ought to go close if in the same mood here, while Dontpaytheferryman returns to the scene of his latest success and makes plenty of appeal. The vote, however, goes to KICKAHEAD. Ian Williams' ten-year-old comes out top on official ratings and won comfortably in this sphere at Taunton the last day.
Kickahead can boast a very good strike rate over hurdles, and is taken to add to that tally, probably at the main expense of Dontpaytheferryman and Philharmonic Hall.

RED TANBER could take some stopping in his bid to complete the hat-trick. Bruce Mactaggart's charge won impressively on his two handicap chase starts here last month and a further 10lb rise in the weights may not be enough to prevent him striking again. Markadam gamely got the better of Ballymacduff in a recent hurdle race at this venue and is fancied to confirm placings, while Copper's Gold has definite claims at a track where his record stands at two from two.
Just five runners but still competitive. Markadam and Ballymacduff meet again after fighting out a handicap hurdle here on New Year's Day and must be considered, while Red Tanber is on a hat-trick under Lucy Alexander, but the vote goes to Copper's Gold who has gradually improved this term and deserves to get his head in front.

Her trainer loves to have winners at this venue and the application of a visor could help this one time 105-rated performer return to form. Via Archimede has reached the frame on his last couple of visits here and could be in the money once more, while Auberge wouldn't be without a chance if finding top gear.
None of these are entirely convincing, but Via Archimede has run well on his last 2 starts here, and deserves to get his head in front. Melange is well treated on his return to hurdles and is a potential threat, along with Forcefield, who has at least won this winter.

KEY CUTTER appeared to benefit from the application of cheekpieces (worn again today) when scoring readily over an extended 2m7f at Leicester latest and, although a 10lb hike in the handicap is sure to make life a lot tougher, he will be fancied to follow up. Rossini's Dancer is an interesting runner in the first-time visor for local trainer Sue Bradburne while the front-running Safari Adventures looks a lively outsider as he continues to fall down the weights.
Key Cutter is in better form that most, and will try to make all, but his new mark requires improvement, and he will do well to concede weight to Everaard. Rossini's Dancer is interesting with Lucy Alexander taking over for the first time.
