MICHAEL'S NOOK looks the one to beat. Two placed efforts and a win from three visits here reads well and he shaped as though stepping back up in trip would help when fifth over 6f at Southwell last time. Crocodile Bay is quickly turned out after getting within a nose of winning at Southwell on Tuesday and will go close if in the same mood, while Pulsatilla certainly isn't out of it on her polytrack debut.

A few in with chances here but PYTHEAS caught the eye when running on well from the rear to finish third at Lingfield nine days ago, his best effort for some time, and he edges the note having dropped back down to a reasonable mark now. Cheers rates his biggest threat after a cosy opening win at Lingfield two weeks ago, while Only Ten Per Cent was placed on both fibresand starts last month and cannot be ruled out tackling a polytrack surface for the first time. The in-form Dashing Eddie would have to be respected if turned out following yesterday's hard fought success at Southwell.

Another tricky puzzle to solve but NAMIR has been handed a good draw and should appreciate returning to this 6f trip having failed to sparkle over the minimum distance last time. His previous C&D second reads well enough and the veteran remains dangerously well treated now. Rightcar hinted at a return to form at Lingfield last time and this two-time course winner warrants plenty of respect, while Takajan is worthy of consideration having won off a 10lb higher mark in the past.

Leyte Gulf, a five-time course winner, returned to form over C&D latest and makes plenty of appeal off the same mark, but JAMARJO edges the vote. Steve Gollings' charge had been in flying form before squeezed for room over slightly shorter at this venue last time and Robert Winston, who is one from one on board, can help her reach the winner's enclosure again. Straversjoy ran well in both starts here last month and is certainly no forlorn hope.

This sprint handicap looks the highlight of the card and a chance is taken on James Evans' penalised Southwell scorer, GHOSTWING. The selection has hurtled down the handicap in the last 12 months and it was little surprise to see him exploit a lenient mark when last sighted. Still well treated on the pick of his best efforts, he's drawn next to likely pacesetter Punching and should get a lovely tow into the race from stall two. Woolfall Sovereign is holding his form well around this trip but has a wide draw to overcome here. Restless Bay and Tislaam are capable of going close and are others to consider.

A strong field have assembled for this claimer and the vote goes to STANDPOINT, the highest-rated runner on official figures and expected to relish the return to polytrack after a disappointing effort on fibresand at Southwell latest. Reg Hollinshead's gelding is a C&D winner and is likely to be well-placed in the event of this becoming tactical. Munsarim and Elijah Pepper are capable of holding their own in 0-85 company so both merit consideration now operating at this level. First-time blinkers may perk up the former, who appears the main threat.

ROEDEAN is more exposed than most as she bids to break her maiden at the tenth attempt, however, Jamie Osborne's charge has been competing against stronger opposition at Newmarket and over shorter trips that have repeatedly highlighted her lack of speed. A bold bid looks on the cards now tackling this longer trip. Cool Hand Luke is one to monitor in the market on his return from a 137-day break and, along with Marco Botti's newcomer Frosty Berry, who wouldn't need to be anything out of the ordinary to impact here, completes the shortlist.

BLACK ICEMAN was an unfortunate loser when second over C&D on Monday as he bumped into successful Barney Curley gamble, Sommersturm. Lydia Pearce's charge pulled well clear of the third, however, and compensation may be in the offing off the same mark. Mayan Flight is feared most on the back of a fair Kempton third last time, when hinting this extra furlong would suit, while Time To Play may be perked up by the fitting of a first-time visor and is another to consider.
