Nicky Henderson's 32,000gns purchase LYVIUS did the job nicely on his hurdling debut at Kelso last month and, with improvement expected, this Triumph Hurdle entrant will be strongly fancied to defy a penalty and complete the double. Other past winners Brilliant Barca and School For Scandal look to be his biggest dangers, while Gottany O's has questions to answer after running no sort of race at Wetherby the last day.

Poole Master hasn't put a foot wrong in both starts so far this season and warrants plenty of respect, but it's difficult to look past the unbeaten LETS GET SERIOUS. Michael Buckley's son of Overbury confirmed promise shown in his bumper last term when scoring comfortably first time over hurdles at Fontwell in December and further improvement can see him complete the hat-trick today. Lingfield scorer Ballygarvey has each-way claims.

Lord Singer was in front and travelling nicely when getting found out by one of the railway fences at Sandown last week and could make amends here if his confidence hasn't been knocked, but NICEONEFRANKIE edges the vote representing an in-form Venetia Williams stable. He has been in cracking form himself recently and a 4lb rise in the ratings for his latest Leicester success looks fairly lenient. Marodima could be dangerous if granted a soft lead.

15:30 Newbury (Class 3) (5YO plus)

On the evidence of easy wins at Ayr and Wetherby, RAILWAY DILLON has improved dramatically for the fitting of blinkers (worn again today) and, officially 8lb well in here, he ought to go extremely close from the front end. No Loose Change has shaped with plenty of promise in three starts over the smaller obstacles but chasing should bring out the best in him, while Carribs Leap is respected after his fine introduction to fences at Warwick last month.

5

16:00 Newbury (Class 4) (4YO plus)

Emma Lavelle Racing Novices' Handicap Hurdle

Charm School arguably has the best form in the book and makes plenty of appeal, while hat-trick-seeking Double Handful is worthy of consideration despite shooting up 19lb in the ratings for wins at Taunton and Plumpton. The vote, however, goes to Alan King's handicap debutant HENRY SAN. This progressive sort readily won a novices' hurdle at Plumpton last month (third has won since) and a narrow miss on the Flat since shows he remains in good spirits.

6

16:35 Newbury (Class 4) (5YO plus)

It could pay to side with the in-form BALLYALLIA MAN in what looks an open contest. He should arrive full of confidence after his opening victory in a beginners' chase at Southwell last time and doesn't look badly treated on this handicap debut. French Ties isn't the most reliable but can go close if in the same mood as when runner-up at Market Rasen latest, while Cabinet Minister certainly isn't out of it either.

7

17:10 Newbury (Class 6) (4YO to 6YO)

GLORIOUS TWELFTH left her debut performance well behind when fourth in what looked quite a hot bumper on the all-weather at Kempton last month and, with further improvement possible, she could make it third time lucky. Alan King spoke highly of Tickity Bleue in a stable tour back in November and she warrants the utmost respect now appearing on a racecourse for the first time in public, while As I Am should improve for stepping up in trip.
