Mark Johnston is in tremendous form and ASSIZES could be another one for the yard after narrowly failing to add to their impressive Glorious Goodwood tally. Only caught late on by the well-regarded Silver Lime, the Teofilio colt can go one better under what appear optimum conditions, despite a 6lb rise for his efforts in Sussex. Unex El Greco scored over C&D at the last meeting and should go well again off a 4lb higher mark, whilst the unexposed Sir John Hawkwood is surely better than a poor heavy ground effort here last time. Flaxen Flare has place claims.

CAPE CLASSIC was strongly supported when disappointing at Newmarket last week. Previous efforts indicate he's significantly better than that modest effort and the colt is afforded another chance over this additional furlong. It's interesting that William Haggas, such a meticulous placer of his charges, returns him to action so quickly. Highland Colori, one of Andrew Balding's success stories this season, ran a fine fifth in the International Stakes over this trip last time and should be highly competitive off an unchanged mark. Zumbi is very interesting on his return from an absence, with White Frost and Citrus Star also respected.

An attractive renewal with SKY LANTERN taken to complete the hat-trick for the Hannon and Hughes team. The Red Clubs filly showed class and resilience to score at Naas last time in Listed grade and connections then chose not to take up various Royal Ascot options. She seems sure to appreciate this extra furlong and is preferred to Certify. However, the latter filly made a classy winning debut here last time and Godolphin boast a fine record in this contest in recent years. She looks the prime threat, with Redressthebalance and Reyaadah, both unbeaten, also well regarded.

A race to take careful note of for the future, but for low stakes on the day. Top-class yards unveil choicely-bred fillies with life not made any easier by John Gosden fielding three entrants and Richard Hannon arriving double-handed. Winsili and FOLLOWEVERYRAINBOW make most appeal from those respective yards, with the latter taken to give the Hannon juvenile machine yet another success. Godolphin regularly introduce top juveniles here and support for Valley Of Queens should be taken seriously. Thwart, Jabhaat and Savvy Chic also catch the eye on paper.

URIAH HEEP, only tenth in the King George V handicap at Royal Ascot, was beaten less than six lengths. Previously tailed off at Chester in a quagmire, he should be good enough if repeating his first run of the campaign when touched off by Minimise Risk. Toptempo has shown enough in ordinary maiden company to be in the mix and the market should provide the best guide to John Gosden's Dalakhani newcomer, Perfect Heart, and the unraced Henry Cecil-trained pair, of which Malekov makes greatest appeal on paper. Castilo Del Diablo has place claims too.

Mark Johnston clearly holds Darren Egan in high regard and turns once again to the talented apprentice for the ride on MOON TRIP. He was a well-beaten third here last time but prior to that ordinary run had looked most impressive scoring over this trip at Beverley. The return to 2m appears a logical move and the Cape Cross gelding makes plenty of appeal off a mark of 80 with ground sure to suit. Purification keeps running consistently well without getting his head in front and should be on the premises once again, with Waterford Star and Sohar also noted.

This looks trappy but Marco Botti's Singspiel filly, FOUR LEAVES, has been improving nicely with racing and can make her first experience of handicaps a winning one off an acceptable mark. A solid runner-up effort last time behind Keene Dancer suggested that she's more than capable of landing a race or two this term and she gets the nod over Sputnik Sweetheart. The latter also makes her handicap bow but has not been seen since scoring at Goodwood in May. Fitness is rarely an issue with the Hannon yard though and she should get involved, along with Rugosa and Roedean.
