SCRUTINEER sets a decent standard following his good third at Ripon. He stayed on well that day and only found a couple of experienced runners too good for him. There should be more to come on just his second run and he makes plenty of appeal. More was expected from Sanaadh on his debut, but there should be plenty of improvement in this well-bred son of Group 1 winner Queen's Logic. King's Currency is an interesting newcomer, being a half-brother to a Group-placed juvenile in La Neige.

This appears to be the better of the two divisions, with three experienced runners who have already shown the ability to pick up a race like this. JACK NEVISON surprised plenty when he popped up to be third at 33/1 in a high quality maiden at Newbury in July, and returned from a near two-month break when a beaten favourite at Sandown. That was disappointing but he probably found 5f too sharp for him and he can bounce back as he steps back up to 6f. Kadrizzi is another who showed up well on debut before disappointing next time, but a return to 7f is likely to suit and he might find this trip on the short side. Dacoity has to be respected on his run at Pontefract, while Like No Other is an interesting newcomer.

Spike won a Pontefract maiden but he hasn't been done any favours by the handicapper with his opening mark of 77. Last-time-out nursery winners Danzeb and Harmonic Wave deserve plenty of respect in an open race, while Ample is interesting after his solid run in a conditions event at Salisbury a week ago. PRINCESS KODIA took her time to get off the mark but, since then, she has run some solid races in defeat, finishing midfield in the Super Sprint before being beaten less than five lengths in the Molecomb. Her last run can be written off because she reportedly lost a shoe when, once again, she was tackling Group company.

A race that is likely to provide many decent middle-distance performers for next season. MENGLI KHAN was a major eyecatcher when third behind two experienced rivals at Newmarket last month, despite showing signs of greeness early on in the race. This half-brother to Chriselliam can go very well with that run under his belt and it is interesting that he holds a Racing Post Trophy entry. Brorocco is only marginally passed over as he showed ability when ninth in the Solario on the back of a moderate run in a Sandown maiden, and there should be plenty more to come from this half-brother to Elm Park. Across The Stars, Sennockian Song and West Drive are well-bred newcomers who require a market look.

Bathos is seeking a five-timer after racking up four wins across August and September. He was impressive at Newmarket last time but that wasn't the strongest race run at HQ and an 8lb rise makes life tougher. MACHINE LEARNER is interesting as he was beaten by Bathos on his last start but, thanks to his rival's subsequent exploits, now meets him on 22lb better terms for a three-and-a-quarter-length defeat. Rioca has to be respected as her trainer is a past master at improving a handicapper and keeping them ahead of their mark, while Dal Harraild is another worthy of consideration in an open race.

FEI KUAI is the pick after her easy success over 7f at Chepstow last month. That performance suggested that she had more wins in her from a mark of 72 and a return to 1m should be no problem as she wasn't beaten far when fifth in a fair maiden over this trip at Newmarket on her penultimate start. A drop in distance should suit the other unexposed runner Mr Pickwick, who has been keen over 1m2f. His mark is on the high side for what he's done but there is likely to be more to come. My Strategy is a solid performer and should be thereabouts, a comment that also applies to Just Be Lucky, Rocket Ronnie and White Russian.

Lahayeb has been a revelation since joining this yard and she was wildly impressive when winning over 1m here back in May, although a 152-day break and a 15lb rise makes life much tougher for her. First Sitting runs under a 6lb penalty after an easy win at Ayr last week and is very dangerous to write off despite the steadier of 10st 1lb. NEWERA has found two very competitive handicaps too much for him most recently, but he didn't get the best of trips last time at Chester. This is a drop in class for the son of Makfi and he can regain the winning thread. Others worthy of note are Entity and Ready.

GEN I AM has put in some solid performances since breaking her maiden tag at Lingfield back in June and she remains on a workable mark. A repeat of any of her last three starts, all at Newbury, would give her a big chance. Tyrsal failed in his hat-trick bid when dropped in trip last time out but he was finishing well and could be a big danger now up in distance. Others to note in a very open race include Cornborough and Omotesando.
