Useful Flat performer Duke Street looks sure to play a leading role in the opener after an encouraging sighter over hurdles at Market Rasen, but DYLAN'S STORM makes more appeal at the forecast prices as he shaped better than the bare form suggests when fourth at Fontwell in September. Irish import Duke Of Medina is a fascinating runner for last year's winning handler, and any market support behind Or So could prove noteworthy.

A tight contest where the 127-rated In On The Act sets a decent standard on his return to novice company. Evan Williams' charge will attempt to concede weight to all three rivals, including UNCLE TONE, who looks well treated by the terms of this race if forgiving his unsuccessful effort over a much stiffer test of stamina at Warwick. Samtu made a winning start for Dan Skelton at Uttoxeter and an improved jumping performance should see him get on the premises, while bumper winner Time Is Money is no forlorn hope either.

Plenty of these like to get on with things which should suit Dreamsoftheatre, who is just 1lb higher than when winning a more competitive 0-150 handicap at Cartmel in August. ALLTHEKINGSHORSES might be able to outstay Dreamsoftheatre, though, as he won over 3m5f at Warwick in April and can strip fitter for a recent sighter at the same track. Best Boy Barney is consistent and King Massini is well treated, but perhaps the improving duo of Rio Milan and Lemony Bay pose a bigger threat to the selection.

LILY WAUGH has held her own in more competitive contests and can get back on track if a recent fall over fences hasn't dented her confidence. The unexposed Jean Fleming can give the selection most to think about if she is fully wound up for this first start since tasting victory at Fontwell in March. A Shade Of Bay and Loyaute also have an absence to overcome and the top-rated Miss Serious is a leading contender if bouncing back from a below par effort at Newton Abbot. Handmaid and Still Believing are others for the shortlist.

Evan Williams is bidding for a hat-trick in this race but his challenger Allez Vic will need to brush up on his jumping to open his account over fences. HEPIJEU looks a sounder option after he bolted up in a beginners' chase at Stratford, but might not get his own way in front with Cut The Corner in the field. Dr Newland's runner carries a 7lb penalty after a comfortable success at Southwell and has to enter calculations.

17:00 Ludlow (Class 4) (3YO plus)

This doesn't look the strongest contest and perhaps the improving EMPTY THE TANK is the safest option after landing his third victory in four starts when last sighted. C&D winner Grams And Ounces arrives fresh from a success on the Flat at Bath and was a winner at Sedgefield when last tackling hurdles, and it would be dangerous to rule out Arthamint for a shrewd handler.

Most of these contenders are entitled to strip fitter for this outing so the betting market could prove a useful guide. A tentative vote is given to TULLOW TONIC, a half-sister to Champion Bumper fourth Black Hercules, who acquitted herself well when taking the runner-up spot at Southwell in June. The point winner Yes I Did has showed plenty of promise in her two starts under Rules last term, while any market support behind Fizzy Dancer could prove noteworthy.
