Knocklayde Sno Cat came agonizingly close to opening her account at Cartmel and she should give another good account off her light weight, but HILLS OF DUBAI edges the vote. The lightly-raced seven-year-old lost little in defeat when three-parts of a length second at Aintree last time and he might be allowed to dictate matters from the front end here. Close Escape and Flying Jack add further spice to the race.

Solway Legend would have an obvious chance if taking his place in the line-up, but his participation must be in doubt having been declared to run yesterday, so MARTIN CHUZZLEWIT gets the vote. He was much improved on what was only his third handicap start over the extended 2m3f at Uttoxeter last time and the way he stuck on all the way to the line that day suggests that stepping up in trip can only help. Drop A Gear ended last year with a couple of solid efforts and is worth a market check at least on his return to action.

Violoniste will be tough to beat based on his back-to-back wins earlier in the year and a mark of 100 should remain workable for the son of Epalo. That said, IRONDALE EXPRESS bounced back to form when third in a stronger contest than this at Towcester last month and she once again gets the benefit of Harry Cobden's valuable 5lb claim. Another to put in an improved performance when last seen was My Escapade and she completes the shortlist.

SEVEN DEVILS was eased down near the line when recording an eight-length victory over 2m1f at Kelso last month and remains of interest, despite a subsequent 11lb rise in the ratings. Wot A Shot has work to do with the selection on that evidence, though he did score comfortably over C&D two runs back, suggesting he could still have place claims this afternoon. Baroque Style is likely to be popular given his trainer's record at this venue, while Theflyingportrait is worth a market check after attracting support at Uttoxeter last time.

LE GRAND CHENE failed to justify favouritism at Downpatrick last time and has to race off a 3lb higher mark now racing on these shores. However, his trainer has an excellent record at targeting horses at this track and it could be that the refitting of a tongue-tie can enable him to leave his last run behind. C&D scorer Gleann Na Ndochais is only 1lb above his last winning mark and has place claims along with Royal Macnab, who struck over this trip and off this mark at Musselburgh in December.

LAKE MALAWI got off the mark at the third attempt over hurdles at Downpatrick earlier in the month when showing a willing attitude in the closing stages and has the assistance of David Noonan in the saddle. His stablemate John Monash was outclassed by Rainy City earlier in the month but merits respect returning to handicap company, while Always Tipsy has decent claims if managing to complete unlike his previous two starts.

Notice must be taken when an Irish raider books Richard Johnson at Perth, and this time it is Newry-based Liam Lennon who recruits the services of the champion jockey for what looks to be an excellent opportunity aboard SUNDAY CENTRAL. The five-year-old showed a nice level of promise when fourth at Downpatrick earlier this month, and the chestnut gelding could be capable of taking advantage in a contest that seemingly holds little to fear. Bannow Storm and Beautiful Storm look next best, with River Icon and Rosie Fifty One seemingly the best of the unraced bunch.
