MY MATE MOZZIE looks an interesting hurdling prospect and may be able to win at the first time of asking over flights. The Born To Sea gelding cost plenty after winning a point-to-point last winter and easily won a bumper at the Festival here in April. His second to a horse now rated 91 in a Flat maiden at Ballinrobe in June was another fine performance and it will be interesting to see how his hurdling technique measures up. Classy Flat horse Barbados, scratched from an engagement at the weekend due to soft ground, gained an elusive second victory on the level with a facile success at Listowel and last year's Irish St Leger fourth is another intriguing recruit to hurdling. Hamundarson has been placed on all four starts over hurdles and went close on his penultimate start at Thurles but is returning from seven months off and is unproven on a sound surface.

ROMELLA is on a hat-trick after wins at Clonmel and Roscommon and might be able to defy a 6lb hike for the latter victory. She got the better of Go Gill Go by two lengths and, having been off for over three months before that last outing, may have a bit more improvement left in her. Go Gill Go is 4lb better off with the selection this time so is an obvious danger and she has been a consistent performer in handicaps since winning a maiden at Sligo in July. Peace Party won very easily at Gowran Park and has to be respected despite an 8lb hike. It was a much-improved display from the 9-year-old and he's in off a nice weight. Recent chase winner Ricky Langford finished behind Go Gill Go at Down Royal in August but as a dual winner over hurdles is another that can't be ruled out.

MIGHTY MEGGSIE could be on a nice mark for her handicap debut after an easy maiden victory at Down Royal. The daughter of Arakan had shown plenty of promise in bumpers and in her early starts over hurdles and a rating of 106 doesn't look excessive with the prospect of more improvement to come. There's likely to be plenty of pace on here with the likes of Kitty Galore and Betty Zane in the line-up and the latter drops in class after a respectable effort in Listed company at Gowran. Bonarc picked up the pieces when runner-up in a Grade 3 novice at Tipperary and is a well-exposed type but Ena Baie would have a chance if recapturing the form of her third in a competitive handicap at the Festival here in April. Influential Lady bolted up in lesser company last time but is hard to recommend from 6lb out of the handicap.

Jordan Gainford's 5lb claim will be valuable on MERRY POPPINS and she has good claims off a handy weight. The Authorized filly had recent Listowel winner Socially Distant back in third when runner-up in a mares' handicap over course and distance here in April and her third at Ballinrobe last month was another decent effort. Rich Belief had three of these rivals behind when chasing home the well-handicapped Good Time Jonny at Gowran earlier this month and should go well off a 2lb higher mark. Karl Thornton's charge is a real good ground performer and will have conditions to suit. Down Royal maiden winner Aldo The Apache found the ground too soft on handicap debut last time but the run should have brought him on and he's another with a talented claimer on board.

This is take two of the Grade 3 Kilbegnet Novice Chase at Roscommon just over a fortnight ago and EMBITTERED gets the vote to come out on top on this occasion. The experienced Fame And Glory gelding, who got off the mark over fences at Killarney in August, went down by a neck to Exit Poll after a good tussle on the run-in and he can avenge that defeat on 7lb better terms. Exit Poll was very determined in victory and has really come good over fences this year with three wins to his name. The extra couple of furlongs will be no harm to his chance and he's likely to put up stern resistance. Bold Enough was well held in third at Roscommon having won twice over fences earlier in the summer. He's tried in a first-time tongue-tie but it's hard to see him turning around the form with the front pair.

BRAHMA BULL was conceding 4lb to Annamix when finishing a neck in front of his stablemate in the Kerry National at Listowel. The pair both performed well under hefty weights when placed behind Assemble and, meeting at level weights today, the selection should be able to confirm the form. The Presenting gelding enjoys good ground and put up a fine weight-carrying performance to win a competitive handicap over course and distance at the Festival in May. Annamix hasn't managed to add to the victories gained in his first two starts over fences last year but went well in front for a long way at Listowel where he only lost second close home. He has a race fitness edge over Galvin who makes his first appearance since winning the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham in March. He has an 8lb penalty for that success which will be difficult to overcome but he goes well fresh and a horse with such a good strike-rate will rightly have plenty of supporters.

ESPERTI put a below-par effort at Galway behind him when getting off the mark on his third start at Listowel. He beat some well-fancied rivals on decent ground on that occasion and, while reportedly well-schooled, connections have found a good opportunity to pick up another bumper with him before going over hurdles. The selection chased home The Gossiper on his debut at Down Royal in June and, on collateral form, holds Hey Johnny who was a lot further behind that three-time bumper winner at Galway the following month. Tom Mullins' charge, who scored at Ballinrobe on testing ground earlier in the summer, was a fair third last time but has a fairly exposed profile in bumpers at this stage. The market will be informative regarding the chance of Lieutenant Highway who is hooded for his debut. The Fame And Glory gelding cost E31,000 as a 3-year-old and is from the family of several useful winners in France.
