WINTER POWER was not beaten far at all in a Listed race at York 10 days ago and Tim Easterby's filly appears to be the one to beat with her sights lowered this afternoon. Risk Of Thunder was only beaten a neck in a similar contest at Catterick last month and she could pose the biggest threat to the selection. Others to note are Miss Nay Never and Brazen Belle.

The unexposed CHICHLOUI has shown some promise in both of her previous outings and the three-year-old could be hard to beat on her first outing in selling company. Little India has only won one of her 20 career starts but Karl Burke's filly is more than capable of making the frame in a race of this nature. The shortlist is completed by Olivers Pursuit and Marie's Gem.

Plenty of these arrive here in questionable form but not DAAFR, who won at Haydock last month and he only found one too good at Wolverhampton last time. A reproduction of either of those performances should be good enough to win this contest. Smeaton was disappointing at Redcar on Saturday but he is a player based on his previous form, while Gulf Of Poets is the pick of the remainder.

Absolute Dream rattled the crossbar over this trip at Redcar last time and is expected to give another good account off this 1lb higher perch, though preference is instead for Michael Dods' three-year-old, CHALLET. The selection struck off 6lb lower over this trip in a handicap for three-year-olds at Thirsk last time and could be tough to stop in receipt of a weight-for-age allowance here. Magic Voice attracted market support at Haydock last time and is another to note.

DREAMSELLER returned to winning ways over this distance at Redcar last time and a 5lb rise is unlikely to prevent Tim Easterby's four-year-old from mounting another bold bid. La Voix Magique steps back up in trip after keeping on well into second over 7f at Catterick last time and is the one expected to put up most resistance. Others worthy of shortlist inclusion are last-start winners Lexington Warfare and Muritz, as well as Perfect Swiss, a stablemate of the selection who performed with credit when second at Haydock over 7f latest.

PYTHAGORAS had all angles covered when striking in a maiden at Beverley last time and is expected to show up well off an opening mark of 77 on his handicap bow. Innse Gall has been raised 6lb for scoring by a head over C&D on his handicap debut last time but commands the utmost respect with his effectiveness under these conditions proven. The pick of the remainder may be Zookeeper, who often front runs and could be a tactical danger to all in this small field.

ROYAL RESIDENCE outran his odds to finish second in the Great St Wilfrid over C&D and the drop in grade can see the five-year-old back to winning ways off a 1lb higher mark. Abel Handy was fourth behind the selection in the aforementioned contest and warrants plenty of respect along with John Kirkup, who scored at Ayr last month, and Roundhay Park.

LION'S VIGIL ran on strongly to finish second at the course over 1m4f in July when shaping as though he would relish the step up to 2m on this occasion. Richard Fahey's gelding can handle a 3lb rise for that effort to shed the maiden tag at the sixth time of asking. Kitty's Cove was first past the post at Beverley before being disqualified and placed second last month and the mare is respected off a 3lb higher mark. Indian Vision, who finished fourth on his return at Musselburgh, and Mr Nice Guy can fight it out for the minor honours.
