Transact broke his duck over timber with a game win over 2m at Newcastle last month but may struggle here with another 7lb to contend with. King's Chorister and Sam Patch put in good efforts last time but are a shade exposed and preference is for MYCENEAN PRINCE, who won over 2m1f at Hereford in September. He lost his way afterwards but showed he was heading back to form with a close third over C&D last month and could score now off the same mark.

In an open-looking affair it might be worth taking a chance on TURF TRIVIA and hoping he's suffered no lasting effects from his crashing fall at Wetherby last month. He was still going well when tumbling two out and recorded a double last year - form that might see him home today. The Irish raider Vivaldi has run well in better company and can't be ruled out, while chances can also be given to Warrior One and Any Given Moment.

Sir Tantallus Hawk was third over 2m5f at Wetherby on his chasing debut but was beaten a fair way. Lord Villez just missed out at Catterick but has had his chances, while The Knoxs looked the likely winner at Ayr, only to fall at the last - his second tumble in two starts. Preference is for PYRACANTHA, only beaten a nose over 2m3f at Catterick on his chasing bow. He has very little to find to land this.

Ceasar's Return was beaten when falling two out at Newcastle but claims on his best form. French Ties is reasonably weighted but ran out last time over C&D and he doesn't always relish his task. It's worth taking a chance on ONIZ TIPTOES, who knows his way to the winner's enclosure. He's been well beaten on his last two starts but is 23lb in hand on his best winning mark and would take some beating if back to anything like his best.

It might be worth sticking with LERIDA, who seems to have hit top form this month. He was a bit disappointing towards the end of last year but a short mid-winter break seems to have put him right and following a 2m1f Huntingdon success, he failed by a head to defy a 5lb rise in the weights at Southwell. He's up another 3lb now but a repeat of his latest effort might be good enough. Authentic Act can be given a chance on his chasing debut, while Gavroche Gaugain has claims if he's solved his jumping problems.

The one that appeals most is Alan Swinbank's newcomer DOME RUN. The trainer has an outstanding record in these contests and this nicely-bred five-year-old can provide another 'bumper' winner for the yard. Armed And Dangerous was second on his debut at Folkestone. He has something to find but could chase the selection home, while another debutant, Viscount Victor, could also run well.
