Some powerful yards send out chasing debutantes here and all must be respected. These include Mount Sandel, Chiaro and Kia Kaha although the latter comes from a team whose horses normally need a run over fences. Two that have had experience over the bigger obstacles could have it between them with Crescent Island putting in a better effort last time out after running out at Perth. However, sure to enjoy the drop in class today, the prospects of PREDATEUR look pretty solid providing he brushes up on his jumping and he is taken to break his duck over the twigs.

Devito has bits and pieces of form that, in an open-looking race, give him a squeak along with Pip's Assertive Way who goes well at this track and boasts a win here in a similar race. Don Cantillion does well with his small string and the Newmarket-based trainer is a very shrewd placer of his charges so La Estrella, who mixes both codes, looks interesting. As does INSIGNIA, who after some promising efforts in better company over fences makes a second reappearance over timber. The entry into this grade therefore looks significant.

At their best both Beauchamp Prince and Amazing Valour can make their presence felt but Olay Olay seems out of touch at present. What A Scientist hails from a yard that excels early season and his win at Uttoxeter, albeit in a severely depleted field, showed his well being and once again must be respected. The hat-trick seeking Earcomesannie is looking to make hay off the same mark as when scoring at Plumpton last time out. However, Nicky Henderson has his team in cracking form and his TERRAMARIQUE can build on his pipe-opener over hurdles at Huntingdon and add to his trainer's impressive numbers this term.

Despite hardly ever being out of the frame in the past two seasons, the consistent Tisfreetdream remains a maiden after 22 runs. Robert Thornton rides Mad Jack Duncan rather than Major Rumble and with boss Alan King once more appearing to have a strong hand in this department, his mount must come into the equation. However, this can go to THEATRICAL MOMENT who has had the benefit of several outings over the timber and, putting a line through the run in the Aon Hurdle, has looked as if a win was not far away. He can open his account today.

Inmate has disappointed twice since winning here in the summer, while No Greater Love gave signs of better to come last time out at Fontwell when second. Top weight Classic Role won well at Fontwell but a 7lb penalty may scupper his chances of a follow up and that could leave the door open for CARTHYS CROSS, who can rid himself of the 'always the bridesmaid' tag after a run of five runner-up spots on the bounce. Three of those runs were with AP McCoy in the saddle and the champion will not want to be denied again.

16:20 Stratford (Class 3) (4YO & 6YO)

The ex-Irish trained National Petition looks interesting on his NH debut, as does Jonjo O'Neil's Supreme Keano. Easy winner of a Huntingdon bumper last season, West End King appears a big danger to all despite the long lay-off, but the tentative vote goes to Alan King's BAKBENSCHER. Picking up where he left off last term, the 5-y-o gelding can make a successful hurdling debut after scoring very nicely twice already in bumpers
