Henry Howard looks sure to be popular once again, given his connections, but the son of Flemensfirth has already had plenty of chances and he could find himself in the places again this afternoon. There was clearly something amiss with FIGURATIVE following his defeat at Thurles in January but on his previous efforts, as well as the current form of the Gordon Elliott yard, the six-year-old gets the nod today. Flashing Baton and Whitber's Choice are others who can make the frame in this contest.

In a very moderate contest the percentage call appears to be ICELIP, who remains 10lb above the mark off which he won over C&D in June but he has been running well enough of late to suggest that he should be, at the very least, in the mix for the win today. Tapering makes his handicap debut over hurdles for a shrewd yard and he is tried in a tongue-tie for the first time this afternoon. Trendy Nurse was disappointing last time but she did finish second in a similar race here back in August.

Craig Star was very progressive back in the summer, winning twice in August, and it is too soon to be writing him off after one poor run at Gowran last week. That said, FATHER JED is another youngster on the upgrade and a 9lb rise in the ratings for his latest win at Ballinrobe may still underestimate his ability. Lisa's Legacy has plenty of weight to carry but he was mightily impressive when also successful at Ballinrobe on his most recent start.

Those with chasing form in the field, Sam King and Beautiful Ben, need to step up on what they have achieved to date so preference goes to ORCHARD ROAD who comes from a yard currently in terrific form in the shape of Gordon Elliott and his recent form over hurdles appears solid enough. Pershing is rated higher than the selection over hurdles and, while his form is fairly inconsistent, he may well improve for tackling the larger obstacles.

LIP SERVICE boasts the best form of these over hurdles despite not winning a contest and this looks a weak enough event for the son of Presenting to get off the mark on his chasing debut. Double Windsor has been in solid enough form and gets weight all round from his rivals, while Crocodile Dundee looks best of the remainder if able to bounce back to the form he showed over hurdles in July.

ONE FINE MORNING hasn't claimed victory since 2014 but there was plenty to like about his recent fifth at Downpatrick and the 10-year-old looks capable of landing an event such as this before the end of his career. Ronald O'Leary's charge met interference last time out and would have finished a lot closer to the winner, while this slight drop in trip should also play to his strengths. Fiddlers Bow should appreciate the return of Davy Russell to the saddle though he does have a big weight to carry, while Dark Outsider completes the shortlist.

The impressive recent form of Gordon Elliott and the booking of Nina Carberry means that Broken Soul is likely to prove popular in the betting. However, the five-year-old doesn't look to be showing much sign of improvement and it might be worth taking a chance on BALLYEGAN HERO, who shaped well when second at Killarney in May and receives Katie O'Farrell's useful 7lb claim. The five-year-old can claim this before returning to enjoy a successful hurdles career. Bridge Native and Barra Hooley also enter calculations.
