MEMPHIS MAN would appear more affective on the turf but his solitary win on the all-weather came over track and trip off a mark of 62. If the eight-year-old can run back to that form, off an 8lb lower mark, he could take all the beating at a nice price. Mucky Molly is beginning to prove expensive to follow but shouldn't be overlooked while Distant Sun is another with claims despite the burden of top weight.

No previous winners among these but THORPE BAY stands out at the forecast prices having displayed plenty of promise in similar company at Chepstow and Kempton recently. Up only 3lb for those efforts, the gelded son of Piccolo remains off what looks an attractive mark. Elsewhere, the Richard Hannon inmate Essexvale is one to keep an eye on while handicap debutante Baltic Flyer is worth a look having shown signs of promise in maiden company.

GOLDEN COMPASS continues to hold her form admirably and the daughter of Sakhee remains feasibly treated despite a 4lb rise for a creditable runner-up effort behind the useful Swansea Jack last time. Fantasy Fighter can boast C&D winning form and is likely to be on offer at a tempting price, while of the others, Lily Wood is back down to what looks an inviting mark and could pose a serious threat to her market rivals when push comes to shove.

GLORIAM is fancied to step forward on his debut fifth over 7f at Newbury in August. He didn't enjoy the clearest of runs that day and stayed on nicely at the finish suggesting that this longer distance will suit. Like the selection, Coquet is entitled to have learnt a great deal from her debut fourth at Kempton last month and must enter calculations, while Captivity can be given another chance on his all-weather debut. Godolphin's two newcomers, Ehkam and Lithograph, could well be worth a second look in the betting market.

ARKAIM is taken to open his account at the sixth time of asking. Ed Walker's gelding appeared to benefit from the application of a visor (worn again) when runner-up on his all-weather debut over an extended 1m here recently and he could prove difficult to peg back if getting his own way out in front this evening. Cathcart Castle looks an obvious danger, while Daniel Thomas ran a cracker on his comeback run at this venue 15 days ago and is entitled to strip fitter now.

AMOURE MEDICI overcame a tardy start to score on his handicap debut over C&D last time and won with plenty in hand. The handicapper has reacted with an 8lb rise but Noel Quinlan's charge is open to more improvement on what is only his fifth career start and further wins could feasibly be in the offing. Red Alpha opened his account in a Warwick maiden in July and looks the main danger now handicapping off a workable mark of 75. The last-named holds a number of entries in the next week and will be looking to rack up a quick sequence. Last time out Folkestone scorer Holiday Reading is another to consider.

Galloping Minister has been failing to get home over further and looks worth a try over this shorter trip but preference is for SHADOW OF THE SUN, who wasn't beaten far in handicap company when fourth at Warwick earlier in the month. The selection evidently has the speed for the minimum distance and wouldn't need to improve much upon that form to land the spoils here. The consistent Queen Grace is rarely out of the frame and looks to have place prospects. Poppy is closely matched with the selection on official figures and is another to consider.

CASTLEMORRIS KING was clearly out of his depth when beating only one rival home in the Derby but benefitted from the drop in grade and switch to this surface when scoring over C&D last month and can follow up, off 8lb higher, in a moderate looking handicap. Mayan Flight was fourth behind the selection last time and, while a form reversal seems unlikely, he is expected to battle it out with Golestan Palace and the consistent Miracle Play for minor money.
