The likes of Hathfa, Her Terms and Speed Freak are starting to run out of excuses and while they should all go well, it would be no surprise to see a less exposed rival prove too good for that group. THE DALEY EXPRESS chased home two decent rivals on debut back in May and the lack of a recent run appeared to cost him when caught late on over C&D a couple of weeks ago. With that run under his belt, he should be very hard to beat today.

ALKHOR remains unexposed and connections must think there is more to come from the son of Exceed And Excel or he would have been moved on at the sales in recent weeks. Boomerang Bob is more than capable of making the frame in a race of this nature, while similar comments apply to Highland Acclaim. Salvatore Fury, who was narrowly behind the selection last time out, and Young John are also respected.

Mambo Spirit may be getting on in years but he has been in outstanding form in recent months, winning two of his last three starts, and should be on the premises once again. That said, the preference is for COQUINE, who broke her maiden tag over C&D recently and a 6lb rise may underestimate her ability. Others to note are Baileys Pursuit, Krazy Paving and Space War.

DECLAMATION got warm before the off when last seen in July but made a solid enough reappearance on that occasion, finishing second on less than ideal ground after a 219-day absence. Alistair Whillans' charge has won here in the past and a mark of 57 could still underestimate him. Loumarin returned to form when second here last month and looks set to launch another bold bid, while recent course and distance scorer Swanton Blue also enters calculations.

David O' Meara landed this prize in 2014 with a similar type to MYTHICAL MADNESS and the five-year-old is expected to launch a bold bid for the North Yorkshire-based handler. A former course winner, he was unlucky not to win on his stable debut here last month and compensation could await. Third Time Lucky brings some classy form to the table but could struggle with the burden of top weight, while Nonios is very much on the upgrade for David Simcock and has to be respected.

GALILEE CHAPEL was touched off by a head over this trip at Newcastle when last sighted and with Barry McHugh taking over from an apprentice rider in the plate, Alistair Whillans' seven-year-old is expected to remain competitive in the face of a 2lb rise. Commissar is worth a market check now eased into 0-65 company and with Adam Kirby taking over in the saddle. The pick of the remainder may be Burnside, who went down by a head over C&D off 1lb lower latest.

EVENING ATTIRE has been raised 4lb for scoring over track and trip three weeks ago but has bagged a low draw to attack again and he could be hard to pass if Martin Lane can make the most of his inside post. Clement could be finishing strongly if the tempo is overly quick and has dropped 3lb lower than his last winning mark, though his best form in this sphere remains at Lingfield. Ripoll drops back from 1m after landing minor money at Lingfield and could also take a hand.

Fleeting Glimpse has shown promise in two runs over this distance at Kempton and Southwell, though with the benefit of a lower draw over the first-named, NEW SIGNAL shades the vote. A 150,000gns yearling, he helps set the standard on his debut third at Thirsk and, as a half-brother to four winners in Italy, his turn is likely to arrive soon. Any money for Michael Wigham's newcomer, Waggle, or David Simcock's debutant, Tell A Story, would also be interesting.
