SEVEN WOODS displayed marked improvement for Nicky Henderson when he was stepped up to 3m at Ffos Las in April and, having shed his maiden tag over timber in impressive fashion, he is taken seriously on his chase debut today. The son of Milan has had just three starts for the Lambourn-based handler under Rules, so he's clearly showing all the right signs in the schooling ring at home and must be respected. Volador and the Pertemps Final fourth Houblon Des Obeaux are others to note on their reappearances.

Bennys Mist completed a hat-trick when justifying favouritism on his seasonal/chase debut at Exeter earlier this month and Venetia Williams' charge is respected making his handicap bow over fences. The value appears to lie elsewhere, however, and GOLDEN CHIEFTAIN could be worth siding with. Forgiven his reappearance at Chepstow over 3m, he's expected to have stripped fitter for that run and it is interesting that connections turn to the first-time cheekpieces off this 2lb lower mark. Current Event and Simply Wings are others for the shortlist.

Noble Friend won't be without his supporters in this bumper for the potent Paul Nicholls/Ruby Walsh combination, but WOODPOLE ACADEMY can reward his supporters at a nice price. Half-brother to the useful hurdle/chase winner Conker Nails, the son of Beneficial fetched 8,000 euros in June '10 and he's very much respected for his shrewd connections on debut. The market may prove best guide, but keep an eye on Catch The Rhythm and Westward Point elsewhere in the field.

HEEZAGREY scored in a similar event over this C&D in last year and the son of Naheez returns off a 1lb lower mark for this assignment. Getting in under a low weight, his most recent displays confirm he's in good nick and the sole course winner in the field is expected to be bang there when push comes to shove. Rocky Ryan could be worth another chance now dropped in trip for his reappearance, while I Can Run Can You has come back down to a workable mark for Jonjo O'Neill.

DECEPTIVE's chance was gone at the first flight when she made her hurdling debut here in August, but Paul Webber's charge left that behind when showing improvement at Huntingdon to finish runner-up in a similar event latest and she'll go very close with more improvement. Faith Jicaro is forced to shoulder a penalty for her C&D win in maiden company three starts ago, but that shouldn't be off-putting and the One Cool Cat mare is shortlisted, along with Social Realism on her hurdling bow.

Andre Fabre's ex-inmate Cayman Islands failed to land a blow in eight starts on the Flat but he is taken seriously on his hurdling bow for the shrewd John Ferguson operation, particularly if the market vibes are positive. WILTON MILAN edges the vote, however, and Paul Nicholls' point-to-point winner is expected to have been well prepared for this in the schooling ring at home. Heronry is another interesting contender and he can build on a promising start in a Fontwell bumper.

It what doesn't look the strongest of renewals, point-to-point winner FOX RUN should take all the beating on his first start under Rules for Paul Nicholls and he has the assistance of Ruby Walsh in the saddle. Nick Williams' Horatio Hornblower failed to land a blow in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham latest, but he finished a respectable third in a Listed event at Newbury the time before and is therefore feared most on his seasonal/hurdling bow. The 116-rated Chargen makes most appeal of the others.

WILD RHUBARB got the 3m well when exploiting a mark of 110 on her handicap bow over timber at Uttoxeter in May and, while returning from a 158-day absence today, she won with plenty in hand on that occasion so a 7lb rise in the ratings might not be enough to halt her. Expect the hat-trick-seeking mare to be ridden positively dropping back in trip, but a race-fit Romance Dance is up just 6lb for scoring at Newton Abbot last month and she's given a chance, along with distance winner Kindly Note.
