Johnny Murtagh will forever be remembered for his exploits as a jockey.
Associated with John Oxx and Aidan O’Brien amongst others over the years, he won the majority of major Group 1 races in Europe and many others around the world, with some of his most memorable partners including Sinndar, High Chaparral, Choisir and Yeats.
Murtagh announced his retirement from the jockey ranks in early 2014 in order to concentrate on his new career as a trainer which had started the previous year and already yielded three individual Group race victories.
That momentum continued into 2014, with him saddling Mutual Regard to win the Ebor and he has continued to enjoy success since then.
Currently one of most in-form trainers in Ireland, Murtagh took time out from his busy schedule to talk through his team of horses with Kevin Blake of attheraces.com.
