Tom Symonds could be forgiven for rubbing his eyes and taking a second glance at his current statistics for the 2020-21 season for they reassuringly reveal that he has already crashed way past his personal best prize money total with over £200,000 in the coffers already and his 22 winners double his total for the previous season.
The flooding tide of success showed no signs of relenting at Cheltenham recently when Song For Someone gained a second Grade 2 victory this term when landing the International Hurdle by a nose from Silver Streak and, although, tasting defeat, Llandinabo Lad confirmed he is one of the season's brightest novice hurdlers when finding only My Drogo too good when conceding 5lb to that rival in the Grade 2 Supreme Novices Hurdle Trial at Ascot last Friday.
Tom said: "The numbers have increased with David (Dennis) bringing some horse with him and this year the horse's general health and well-being is so much better. We have done some work on the gallops which has helped, and they are looking well and doing well be many of the horses have just come of age. Let's just hope they can continue to stay health and bear further fruit as the season progresses further."
From his base at Dason Court in Herefordshire, Tom kindly spoke to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about his very much in-form team.
