Greyville - Saturday 6th June 2026
PRESSURE POINT has been a beaten favourite in his last two. He stays the trip, gets first-time blinkers and should handle the poly. SO INDI disappointed second time out after a promising debut run. She takes on males but has the best of the draws and only 51.5kg to shoulder. OWNER OF CREATION is struggling to crack his maiden but has been runner-up at his last two over course and distance and could finally break the ice. Well-bred REDOUBT EXPRESS makes his debut and is one to watch in the market.
SPIRIT OF SHIMLA was a good second behind smart stable companion Educator last time out although in receipt of 5.5kg. She can build on the effort and get back to the winner's enclosure. SAINT BRIGID has gone close over course and distance and is holding form. She can go one better. Visiting PARIS FUN has consistent Highveld form over the trip. If she takes to the poly she will be a big runner. PROM QUEEN has consistent form on the poly but may be held by SPIRIT OF SHIMLA on their last meeting. VAANS SPIRIT has room for improvement.
TRIPPI'S SILK won well first up on the poly and was handed a five-point penalty. But he had a big weight and can follow up. FATHER CHRISTMAS is a lightly raced four-year-old but comes with solid Highveld form. He was a comfortable winner last time out and if taking to the poly should put in a big effort. RUN FOREST RUN turned in a strong finish in his last start. He could be a big runner if repeating on the poly. PRITTI UNITED shed his maiden at short odds. He has shown some decent Cape form and the step up in trip could see him progress even further.
Time for TAB's BIG P6 - a R3-million pool is expected! MISTER NIBBLES has dropped in ratings and is one to keep an eye on. At his best he could go close. WICCAN WARRIOR should enjoy the drop in class. He has drawn well and may make a decent Poly debut. ROYAL SWORD is lightly raced and goes well over course and distance. He has the best of the draws. Visiting HAT'S MAMBO steps up in trip and is on the poly for the first time. One to watch in the betting. NUMZAAN surprises from time to time and could go all the way. More in it - go wide.
FERRARI FLAIR was not disgraced in a Grade 2 last time and could make more improvement over this distance. KAVADY finished just ahead of her when also running a cracker. The pair have drawn well and should have every chance. ROYAL TIARA made the expected improvement when winning second time out. She should appreciate the step up in trip. ALICE B TOKLAS has shown up well in all three Highveld starts and could be the pick of the Sean Tarry pair although PERFECT SKY also made the required improvement winning second time out. She is also well bred. More can improve.
WORLD SERIES has shown up well in strong company since shedding his maiden and is one to beat. He should enjoy the extra but has drawn a bit wide. ERIK DUBOIS wasn't far off him and can also relish the extra. KAZENOYONI was not disgraced behind rising star Vibe Check but is likely to come from off the pace instead of pacing it with the leaders. He looks useful. GREEN ENERGY shows plenty of potential and was still green when winning last time out. He is a smart sort and should go close. BACHATA won well on debut at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and is one to watch in the market.
The Gold Challenge looks the race of the season with Grade 1 stars all around, some are prepping for the Durban July but it should still be a humdinger. SEE IT AGAIN is best over further but was most eye catching in the L'Ormarins King's Plate and demands respect. THE REAL PRINCE, winner of last year's July and King's Plate, could be ready for a rematch with EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN and SEE IT AGAIN respectively. Specialist GLADATORIAN has beaten them all and after a promising prep may get his head in front. Can DAVE THE KING win three in a row? LEGAL COUNSEL and TIN PAN ALLEY add to it.
2025 WSB Fillies Guineas winner MON PETIT CHERIE is best weighted and races for the hot yard of young trainer James Crawford. But she has drawn widest and is back from a break. QUICKSTEPGAL, second in this year's Guineas behind Wish List, has beaten all of SCARLET MACAW, MON PETIT CHERIE and SYMPHONY IN WHITE, but it could get close at the weights. MOCHA BLEND has class and must be respected. RACHEL WALL could be a dark horse. She has been running on over shorter and could prefer the extra. SYMPHONY IN WHITE, BABELICIOUS, CARE FORGOT, ONE FINE WINTER and more can threaten.
The Grade 3 Cup Trial is the last chance for some to try and show their worth for inclusion in the exciting R10-million Hollywoodbets Durban July. REGULATION needed his last run and was not disgraced when beaten in a close call in the WSB 1900. He should come on and show what he is made off. LA PULGA finished behind him in the Premier Trophy but is a revitalised sort winning two in a row and could be up to the task. Both, however, have drawn wide. ZEITZ could take advantage from a plum stall. I SALUTE YOU is another with a big say. HOLDING THUMBS caught the eye last time.
LONELY AS A CLOUD has smart Highveld form over the trip. He has a useful 2.5kg claimer aboard and can go close if enjoying the surface. SCARLET STARLET has been rested but won well on debut. She does not meet a strong field and if improving should be involved. CHARA SANDS is back in good nick. He should test this field from a plum gate. PHUTULICIOUS has a big weight and may prefer it a touch further but seldom runs a bad race. ARVERNI PRINCESS is quick and has won her last two over the distance. The switch to poly can see her go in again.
