Furturra sets the standard after winning a seller at Musselburgh before arguably bettering that with a good second at York. Switching to this type of race could be a good move and another bold showing is likely. However, HARLEY is open to more improvement and could be tough to overhaul if stepping forward from a respectable second to a useful filly at Nottingham. Callisterra has an appealing pedigree and is the pick of the rest after a promising introduction at Thirsk.
The well-bred COSMIC MYSTERY should be a lot wiser after her debut fourth at Beverley last month. The winner of that race contested the Queen Mary at Ascot on Wednesday, which is a solid indicator regarding the substance of the form. Rock Steady Beat was turned over as the odds-on favourite at Carlisle on her second start but there were still encouraging enough signs to suggest a race of this nature is within reach. Champion Crown is an interesting newcomer to keep an eye on.
Rubellite is high on the shortlist after a brace of wins over 1m6f on the all-weather, while stepping back up in trip can put Himself in a better light. He's an experienced four-year-old that would be dangerous to underestimate. However, TAZAMAN has a decent profile for this type of event and, impervious to the ground, the competitively-weighted veteran is fancied to go one better after an encouraging second on debut for his current connections 20 days ago.
ATTICUM hasn't been disgraced on both starts this season, finishing fifth at both Sandown and Windsor, and the combination of a 2lb drop along with the return to 5f can see Robert Cowell's charge get back to winning ways. Wateen was highly tried as a juvenile and is entitled to progress from her return effort at Nottingham, while Schrodinger's Cat is capable of being in the mix after his third at York last week.
Night Storm won twice on the all-weather last autumn before finishing third on his handicap debut at Newcastle. James Tate's colt remains open to improvement, but Royal Ascot winner ADRESTIA is preferred. She shaped as though the run would bring her on at Windsor last month and an ease in class gives her the opportunity to get her head back in front. Far Above The Law appeals most of the remainder.
In a race that may not take too much winning, C&D winner AUSPICIOUS stands out, arriving at the top of his game after only going under by a neck at Carlisle last month off 1lb lower. This is clearly his level and he should go well with jockey Alex Jary knowing the Awtaad gelding well. Oasis Cover could go close stepping up a furlong, but Carlisle winner Ganthorpe may be the bigger danger if he gets a clear run at the leaders.
EEETEE won this last year off the same mark and should be spot on with a run under his belt at Ripon, with Gianluca Sanna's 5lb claim a bonus. Chuzzlewit ran well to finish second at Newcastle but is not one to rely on with two wins from 36 starts, so War And Love could be the danger. Twice placed last year she has been off the track for 16 months but looked as if she has a win in her.
The newcomers don't make much appeal here and it may pay to concentrate on those that have shown some ability on the track. The most exposed and reliable of them is Furturra but preference is for HARLEY who improved plenty on his second start and despite being small may have a bit still to come. Callisterra was too keen to do herself justice first-time out and should progress at the second-time of asking.
This is a hot little novice that most of them have a claim in. Strongest of them is probably COSMIC MYSTERY on the back of a good debut effort in the Hilary Needler here. Undercover Affair has been very consistent and should run well again and Rock Steady Beat is a big colt that will probably prove progressive and represents a significant danger.
TAZAMAN is consistent and looks on a very competitive mark here, he should take the beating. Rubellite has been in excellent form on the all-weather and is a significant threat but has it to prove on grass. Educate may be best of the rest especially if a visor sharpens up his act.
Most of these were below par last time making returns after a break and it looks like an excellent opportunity for the reliable SCHRODINGER'S CAT. Atticum is the one other that ran well last time and he is the main danger with Lebron Power best of the rest though she is struggling to reach the heights of her very good juvenile form.
This is a high quality and competitive sprint handicap. Far Above The Law is the obvious selection given he's in great form and went down very narrowly in a competitive event at Thirsk last time, but ADRESTIA might just be worth a small investment at a good price. She ran ok last time on her seasonal debut without getting a lot of daylight and is very nicely handicapped on her best form of 2025. Night Storm is unexposed in handicaps and dangerous but lack of a recent run suggests he is not the easiest to keep right.
This is a very tight handicap. GANTHORPE appeals most after winning off a nice weight last time and remaining on a competitive mark. Auspicious is in very good form, was narrowly beaten last time and a big threat. At a price Northern Tempest, who did too much early last time, could be interesting if bouncing back to the form of his penultimate start.
This is a tricky affair. CHUZZLEWIT is a tentative selection looking well handicapped based on a narrow defeat on the all-weather last time. Volenti is moderate but in solid form and could go well and Sparkling Pink is attractively weighted if getting the trip.
