Superstorm has been in fine form operating in class 6 contests at Brighton of late and reverting to the all-weather shouldn't prevent another bold showing. However, this looks tougher and BUNDOK's unexposed profile earns her the vote. Hughie Morrison's filly posted a respectable third on her handicap bow over 6f at Goodwood and a return to 7f is expected to suit. Chapman's Peak is the pick of the remainder.
There was plenty of encouragement to be gleaned from GOLD ARMY's opening third over C&D and he sets a good standard for the others to aim at. The Intello colt should put his experience to good use and he may be able to fend off some intriguing newcomers. The US-bred Abersoch fetched 775,000 dollars as a yearling and any market support would be noteworthy. Fellow debutant Inscription could also have a bright future.
Brighton third I Am Royal is open to improvement on just his second outing, while Asgar wasn't beaten far when finishing fourth at Goodwood on his most recent outing. The pair aren't taken lightly, but SIERRA BELLE is the most likely winner. Ralph Beckett's filly has filled the runner-up spot on both starts so far and she could prove tough to beat if proving as effective on the all-weather.
Not many win by 21 lengths on the all-weather, but FORTITUDINE did exactly that when making a strong impression on debut over C&D. As a brother to nine-time Group 1 winner Rebel's Romance, the son of Dubawi certainly looks up to successfully carrying a penalty in this company. Shadow Road sprung a 25/1 surprise when making his second appearance a winning one over track and trip and is worth noting, while Roxy Power cost 350,000 dollars as a yearling and warrants a market check ahead of his debut.
Egotistical was beaten six lengths into second at Lingfield on her latest outing and may do better off a 1lb lower mark. Remi Mae sports a first-time tongue-tie and has to be respected now stepping back into handicap company, but AMELIA'S JOY might be the one. Michael Herrington's filly struck over this trip at Leicester in July and, if reproducing that level of form, she could prove hard to beat.
It's difficult to rule out any of these, so only a tentative vote goes to the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained RAGGAAS. He opened his account at the fourth time of asking at Redcar and now goes handicapping with the scope to progress further, especially because an opening mark of 83 looks fair. Blakefell arrives on the back of two narrow defeats and looks sure to be winning again sooner rather than later, while Shaman Champion is another to bear in mind.
MADJID won narrowly at Newmarket before making all to score impressively over 1m4f here, and the son of Time Test is difficult to oppose despite having to shoulder a 6lb penalty. Pershalla might be the greatest threat having made a return to the winner's enclosure at Windsor, but don't rule out Thatcham, as he has the potential to do better now pitched into handicaps.
In form Musical Soldier is likely to prove popular if turned out quickly. However he has been busy and the inexperienced jockey here is a slight concern. SUPERSTORM has been in fine form under today's pilot recently and gets to race off the same mark as when defeated by just a neck last time. He could get an easy lead here and can defeat dual course winner Chapman's Peak who hinted at a revival off a reduced mark last time.
GOLD ARMY flew home from a poor position over C&D on debut and will be tough to beat if building on that. His biggest threats may be newcomers and the pair at the top of the line up appeal most. Abersoch looks the stable first string on jockey bookings and his dam was a winner first time out winner in the US. Anahona comes from a yard which can get them ready first time and his dam was a winner on her second start in France over 1m.
SIERRA BELLE sets a clear standard on her pair of runner up efforts. Her latest run took a boost at York recently so if taking to the AW she will be tough to beat. Blue Victory was poorly positioned first time out but that form has already been franked. He can improve and throw down the main challenge if ridden more positively while I Am Royal is also respected. He finished well on debut and is likely to build on that experience.
FORTITUDINE showed an impressive turn of foot when a C&D winner on debut. He looked potentially classy that day when defeating more experienced rivals and is fancied to defy the penalty. Shadow Road also beat a useful field over C&D last time and that form has been franked so he looks the obvious danger. Roxy Power is related to some useful performers in the US and Canada so is worth following in the betting.
REMI MAE is picked to shed her maiden tag. She has been in good form in sprint novices recently on fast ground and looks well treated back in a handicap on her AW return. The consistent Egotistical was put in her place by an unexposed well handicapped rival last time but should find this easier. She looks the main danger ahead of Zoustar Dreams who enjoyed a productive summer. The top weight is best forgiven her last run where she raced on the wrong part of the track.
RAGGAAS benefitted from a drop in class when a cosy winner last time and now looks extremely well treated tackling handicaps. He has shown improved form since being dropped to 7/8f and is chosen to defeat the consistent Blakefell whose latest run is worth marking up as he was forced wide from a poor draw. Hardy's Hero went too fast in first time headgear last time but had been in good form previously. If he's able to get across and lead from his wide draw he could go close.
MADJID can complete the hat trick. He had plenty in hand here last time so looks well treated under a 6lb penalty and he is likely to get an easy lead. The consistent top weight Joseph is relatively unexposed over this far and looks a big threat along with Extraterrestrial. That rival remains a maiden but arrives in form and shaped as if in need of this step up in distance last time.
