Al Shaqab and Hugo Palmer unleash their 140,000 guineas Dawn Approach colt Fajjaj here and the well-bred youngster could play a major role on his first start with his handler known for readying one to win first time up. However, SOLDIERS BAY caught the eye when sixth in a hot maiden on debut and he is backed to have improved plenty for the outing. Wafy wasn't knocked about on debut and is another who has the potential to step up, while Affluence could land a surprise for small Newmarket handler Martin Smith.

Roger Varian has had a fairly quiet time with his two-year-olds so far with the exception of Listed winner Madeline and her owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid looks to have an exciting prospect in the shape of SHEIKHA REIKA. A full-sister to Group 1 winner Lumiere, who created a huge impression as a two-year-old when blitzing her rivals on debut at Newmarket, this filly has the potential to do something similar despite starting off over a mile. Ceramist ran with a fair amount of promise at Nottingham when third on debut and is entitled to come forward for that outing, while Soliloquy and Trump Alexander both merit consideration.

A very competitive handicap but the marginal preference is for MJJACK, following his second-placed finish in the International Stakes over C&D in similar conditions back in July. The Karl Burke-trained colt remains lightly raced and a 4lb rise in the ratings does not appear to be overly harsh. Von Blucher appears to be improving with racing this season and he is another who is not fully exposed. The likes of Birchwood, Firmament and Remarkable all merit consideration, while Heaven's Guest could go well at an each-way price.

Crowning Glory bids to follow up her distance win at Pontefract from a 5lb higher perch and it might be worth siding with DUBARA instead. Luca Cumani's three-year-old appeared to win a shade cosily over this trip at Goodwood last time and remains open to improvement over a mile. Peach Melba ran creditably on ground faster than ideal at Musselburgh last time and could also take a hand if seeing out this longer trip, while Havre De Paix makes some each-way appeal on his C&D second in July.

Mark Johnston won this contest 12 months ago and he looks to have two outstanding chances to take this valuable prize back to Middleham. Londinium will no doubt appreciate the softer conditions here having won a handicap at Glorious Goodwood on desperate ground but preference goes to CAPE COAST, who was unlucky with the draw when runner-up at Chester last week and a 2lb rise underestimates the potential this colt has. First Nation has been mostly consistent throughout the year and warrants a place on the shortlist with Jamie Spencer being used more often by the Godolphin operation, while Anythingtoday, To Dibba, and Mam'Selle are going the right way and have scope for further improvement.

The attention in this contest will centre around the 575,000 guineas Godolphin purchase DREAM WARRIOR, who looks to have a big future ahead of him and will be expected to make an impressive on debut here for his handler Charlie Appleby. The royal newcomer Elector looks the main danger, though he is another who will have bigger days further on down the line. Of those with racecourse experience, John Bridger's Aegean Legend could improve on his Lingfield third and looks best of the rest.

PROJECTION was slightly disappointing when only 14th in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood but the soft ground may have been against him on that occasion. If the rain stays away he would have an outstanding chance based on his third-placed finish in the Wokingham back at the Royal meeting. Nobly Born is a consistent three-year-old who warrant consideration, while Bossipop and Ice Lord are also noted.

Foxy Forever arrives on a hat-trick and is probably still fairly treated on the best of his old form, while Mont Kiara impressed at Newmarket last time out and a 5lb rise under Jamie Spencer leaves him with a great chance to follow up. However, this can go the way of SHAMSHON, who didn't get the best of runs in a similarly competitive race at Sandown a week ago and could claim compensation here.
