Curlew River wasn't beaten far in Listed company at Chester last week and she must have come out of that race in fine fettle, while Empress Ali warrants plenty of respect off just 2lb higher than when readily seeing off short-priced favourite Indulged at Nottingham. Appointed and Company Asset also hold claims but it's difficult to get away from Roger Charlton's unbeaten filly TIME CHASER. She has improved in each of her three starts thus far and a further 5lb rise for her most recent Sandown victory probably won't be enough to anchor the beautifully-bred daughter of Dubawi.

A competitive heat featuring some highly progressive two-year-old's from leading stables. Godolphin's Dubhe is proven at the distance having made a successful step up at Sandown and has to be respected. However, plenty here have shaped like the step up in trip will see them at their most effective, including Doncaster winner Dark Acclaim and the Queen's Learn By Heart, who showed real signs of greenness when performing better than the bare result suggests at Newbury. Preference, though, is for DEE EX BEE who is talked about in the highest order by connections and was extremely well supported at York last time. He can be forgiven that effort where not a lot went right and a repeat of his earlier Goodwood triumph will make the son of Farhh difficult to beat.

There seems no better starting point than HARRY ANGEL, who had Brando (third), Growl (sixth), The Tin Man (eighth), Mr Lupton (ninth) and Tasleet (tenth) all behind when impressively landing the July Cup at Newmarket in July, and Clive Cox's star colt boasts winning C&D form to boot. He is fancied to take all the beating again with Brando, a game Group 1 winner in France last time, and Blue Point, closely matched with the selection on two Ascot starts earlier this year, likely to put up most resistance. Tasleet and last year's runner-up The Tin Man have similar profiles in that they need to bounce back from disappointing efforts at HQ, but both are more than capable.

HOLMESWOOD has been a revelation since dropped back to 5f and completed the hat-trick when dead-heating with a stablemate at York last time. Michael Dods' charge is expected to defy a further 5lb rise and extend his winning sequence. Mayleaf Shine was fifth behind the selection latest and could play a minor role, while Distant Past, who drops back from 6f, might also take a hand after being collared late on at Hamilton. Soie D'leau is 3lb lower than when winning this contest 12 months ago and has Silvestre De Sousa booked.

BENBATL has had a consistent campaign throughout this year and wasn't entirely disgraced when fifth over a 1m4f trip that probably stretches him behind the brilliant Enable in the King George at Ascot. The drop back down to a mile shouldn't prove much of a problem with the son of Dubawi proven on a softer surface. Morando shaped as though a step up in trip wouldn't go amiss at Leopardstown behind Alexios Kommenos but softer conditions will play to his strengths, while Ballet Concerto is hugely progressive and remains capable of further progression.

Scottish raiders could play a big part here with Ebor-winning handler Iain Jardine saddling Sepal, who arrives on the back of three wins. Preference, however, is for Jim Goldie's progressive GREAT FIGHTER who almost landed a third summer victory when second last time. Things didn't go completely his way at Musselburgh that day, he still looks well treated and jockey Phil Dennis gets on well with him. My Reward is in fine form and has to be considered following his Chester triumph last week, while stablemate Mukhayyam could be suited by the long home straight despite looking heavily burdened at the weights at present. Graceland is another who can't be dismissed while Compton Mill was a likeable winner over shorter at Leicester last time.

The Queen's Vase form has worked out extremely well and that gives Time To Study and FACE THE FACTS big chances today. The former came out on top of the pair on that occasion, finishing just under two lengths ahead of Face The Facts, but an 8lb swing in the weights can see that form reversed. The son of Nathaniel has also been gelded since his most recent start and he could be very well treated off a mark of 90. Great Sound and Joshua Reynolds, along with the selection, give John Gosden an extremely strong hand in this race, while Winston C ran well in the Melrose at York a couple of weeks ago and is another who merits consideration.
