Ebazan has been off the track since scoring off 7lb lower at Southwell last summer and is worth monitoring closely in the betting on his return from a 486-day absence. His stablemate Dominada remains lightly raced over hurdles and looks fairly treated on his Flat form so is another to consider. Preferred ahead of both, however, is Philip Kirby's handicap debutant LITTLE BRUCE, who is closely related to Christmas Hurdle winner Feathard Lady and for whom the booking of Shane Shortall catches the eye.

MISTER KIT romped home by 26 lengths in a C&D novices' hurdle last time, backing up his nine-length victory under the same conditions on debut. Chris Grant's charge shoulders a penalty but is expected to go on and complete a hat-trick. The main danger may be Derintoher Yank, who landed minor money over 2m5f on his hurdles bow at Kelso last month and is entitled to come on for the run. Golden Town is no forlorn hope for a place.

DOUBLE W'S made a pleasing reappearance at Hexham last month when second to a race-fit rival on ground that was probably too soft for his liking. A return to good ground now dropped in trip on chase debut should suit the six-year-old and he can make a winning start to life in this sphere. Impressive last season, Malcolm Jefferson's charge can improve on his record of 2-13 under Rules and get the better of likely market rival Wells De Lune. Move To The Groove should prove best of the remainder.

BALLYARTHUR shaped with promise on his only start for Nigel Twiston-Davies last year and this looks to be a decent opportunity for him to get off the mark. The six-year-old is a half-brother to a 2m hurdle winner and can make up for lost time by landing this before moving towards better things. Ryedale Racer performed creditably in bumpers last year and defied a stiff opening mark to perform with credit in handicaps so he clearly has the pedigree to land an event such as this. Wazowski completes the list of likely candidates.

MASTERPLAN had some solid form in the book during the early part of last season including when winning twice at Ascot, beating solid horses in Singlefarmpayment and Duke Des Champs. Despite losing his form, the summer break should have done him the world of good and the yard of Charlie Longsdon is firing on all cylinders. Major Ivan is entitled to improve for the recent run at Sedgefield where he was fourth behind Mixboy, while Presenting Streak has been in decent form over the summer and shouldn't be too far away.

THREE FACES WEST finally got the hang of chasing with a fluent success at Exeter in March where he beat Just A Par, who went on to showcase the form when runner-up in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown, and appeals as being a fairly handicapped horse off a mark of 135 with this being only his fourth start over the larger obstacles. The evergreen Carrigdhoun has gone well fresh in the past and this looks to be more his distance these days, while Bob Tucker has solid claims with his yard currently in excellent form.

BAYSBROWN finally got off the mark in decent style at Perth last month and is likely to appreciate the stiffer test of stamina that Carlisle provides despite a rise in the weights. The veteran Bourne has been in very consistent form and will find this task a lot easier than his last start in a competitive handicap at Cartmel back in August, while Jovial Joey appeals as a type who should relish a step up to 3m on his handicap debut.
