Rendl Beach is expected to go off a warm order for the opener but he's forced to shoulder a penalty for scoring in a maiden at Fontwell two starts ago and may need to improve in the jumping department on the evidence of his most recent third at Cheltenham. HIGH HO SHERIFF is therefore preferred, and Tom George's dual point-to-point winner can build on a positive start under NH Rules when second at Ffos Las over this trip last month. Toby Lerone completes the shortlist.

After six career starts over hurdles without a win, CURTAIN RAZER is now tried over fences for champion trainer Paul Nicholls and with the yard in such good form at present, the son of Old Vic is clearly impressing in the schooling ring at home. On the back of his fall at Newbury last week, the distance winner might just be on offer at a reasonable price, but Big Occasion is respected, despite having failed to land a blow in two starts over fences. Imperial Circus is also noteworthy.

Point winner Lost Legend may represent some value going up in trip on the back of a pleasing Uttoxeter introduction but THE ROMFORD PELE looks the most likely winner. The son of Accordion broke his duck over timber in a similar race at Taunton last month and, while forced to shoulder a penalty for that, Patrick Corbett takes off a handy 10lb in the plate and the five-year-old's form is the best on offer. Sin Bin is likely to have come on for his course reappearance/hurdling bow and completes the shortlist.

Expected to be ridden prominently under a 7lb claimer, Sona Sasta might be on offer at a generous price but David Pipe's charge may just need more respite from the handicapper. ROYAL CHARM has come right back down to a workable mark, however, and Paul Nicholls' representative can thwart The Rainbow Hunter's hat-trick bid. The four-time winner won't be fazed by the forecast heavy ground and the cheekpieces appeared to sharpen him up a little here last time out.

For all Badgers Cove arrives on a hat-trick, he hasn't been seen on a racecourse for 608 days and this represents a tough ask under top weight on heavy ground. Rangitoto isn't out of it off his current mark and is entitled to have stripped fitter for his course reappearance in October, but TOP DANCER can give Ben Case another winner this week now partnered with 7lb claimer Killian Moore, who is riding well for the yard.

Noble Legend arrives in great form having scored on his last four starts and, while up another 9lb for his Uttoxeter success latest, he thrives on this ground and should go close again. The value may lie elsewhere, however, and he's opposed with TRIPTICO. Runner-up behind Kruzhlinin on his chasing bow at Carlisle last time, that form has since taken a boost and this mark of 118 looks workable now pitched into the handicap ranks. Highway Code makes most appeal of the others.

A select but intriguing bumper and O'FAOLAINS BOY can send his supporters home smiling. The point-to-point winner appeared to bump into two useful sorts in Oscar Rock and Gone Too Far in a Newbury bumper nine days ago but he will have learnt a lot from that outing and is worth another chance. David Pipe's newcomer Top Gamble is worth keeping an eye on if the market vibes live up to his namesake, while Oliver Sherwood is no stranger to getting one ready first time up so Fling Me completes the shortlist.
