FICKLE FORTUNE has proven herself a smart performer, illustrated by her fine fifth in last season's Cheltenham Champion Bumper, and she was second in a Listed race here last month. She should prove equally as effective over hurdles and is preferred to another hurdling newcomer, Un Atout, who looked very good when landing a Naas bumper by a wide margin on his debut back in January. Punchestown bumper winner Some Article completes the shortlist in a fascinating opener.

These conditions should suit Cheltenham Champion Bumper fourth MOSCOW MANNON down to the ground and he looks the type to make up into a very smart hurdler. The Paparrazi Kid has always been held in high regard but despite having previous hurdling experience on his side, it was disappointing to see him turned over at short odds at Clonmel recently. Aonvarr was last seen landing a good ground bumper at Killarney back in the spring and needs to improve a little now sent hurdling.

RULE THE WORLD just about looks the pick of the Gigginstown Stud trio after stepping up on his impressive hurdling debut success at Punchestown when only narrowly losing out in a 3m Cork Grade 3 recently. After only two career starts, he remains open to considerable improvement and is certainly in the right hands. Bonisland is smart but might just have his limitations having finished third in Grade 2 company over this C&D last time. Classy chaser Joncol has plenty of questions to answer at present and reverting to hurdles looks a strange move.

Highly competitive fare but WESTERN LEADER looks on a fair mark and ran a decent race when third to Mossley at Thurles last time. Second in a Grade 1 novice event at Aintree two seasons ago, he hasn't had much racing since and could be about to make up for lost time. Coole Avenue is highly progressive and warrants respect chasing the hat-trick while the largely consistent Novarov would have claims if bouncing back from a below-par effort most recently. Classy chaser Roi Du Mee is on a good mark as he makes his return to hurdling duty.

OSCARS WELL was twice a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and produced a highly accomplished performance on his chasing debut at Punchestown, jumping with fluency before striding to a wide-margin success. A second-fence faller in Grade 2 company subsequently, he has a few questions to answer now but isn't one to give up on. Jenari beat the reopposing Dylan Ross at Naas back in October but he was disappointing at Punchestown subsequently, while the latter has since collected around here.

MARASONNIEN rounded off last season with a Grade 1 novice hurdle success at the Punchestown Festival and big things are expected of him now he embarks on a career over fences. In his favour is the fact he has previous chasing experience from his time in France and he should be able to prove too strong for recent Galway runner-up Ipsos Du Berlais, himself a smart performer in his own right. The consistent The Westerner Boy can prove best of the rest.

VERY VITE is an interesting runner having only seen the racetrack once to date, when finishing a creditable sixth in a valuable bumper at the 2010 Punchestown Festival. It seems significant that connections persevere with him. Butney Boy is another returning from a layoff this afternoon as he was last seen finishing second over hurdles nearly a year ago. He has to be respected, along with Punchestown runner-up De Glebe Star.
