Lucinda Russell has a strong hand here with 2m5f Perth winner Kriss Cross and The Friary, but CATCHING ON could prove a tough nut to crack on his NH debut. An impressive winner of a point-to-point in Ireland in March, he subsequently changed hands for 72,000 pounds and a bold bid can be expected here. Malapie showed promise on his only outing between the flags and he should not be overlooked on his hurdling debut.

ALAND ISLAND made an impressive winning chasing debut over 2m4f at Newcastle last month and the sky is the limit for him over fences. He should certainly take plenty of beating today. Stormy Weather also made a winning chasing debut, over 2m at this track, and he is respected but this longer trip might not be ideal for him. Ulysse De Collonges also steps up in trip, having won over 2m here last month, and he looks a likely player.

Daasij has won his last four over hurdles but although he has gone up a total of 31lb, he still looks sure to give a good account today. Always Bold has been raised 5lb for his Fontwell success over 3m2f last time but he has solid claims with stamina assured. AMERICAN LEGEND made a winning handicap debut over 2m4f at Ffos Las and a 5lb rise might not halt his progress with the step up in trip likely to suit.

Diamond Frontier won this race off his current mark of 125 last year but he has failed to complete three times since, including in PROSECCO's Ayr race last month. Lucinda Russel's representative has been raised 9lb for that victory and he is on a career high mark but another bold bid is on the cards. Best Lover is respected on his first run for his new stable and Lease Lend should also run his race and finish in the shake-up.

WAR POET, a useful Flat performer when at his best, has shown some promise in his three previous runs over hurdles and now he tackles handicap company off a mark of 108, he could leave the assessor with egg on his face. Fleet Dawn comes into this in good heart and he makes the shortlist, along with Herostatus. Mwaleshi and Trucking Along have both been hit hard by the handicapper for their recent wins and are opposable as a consequence.

WHISTLING SENATOR has been struggling of late but the application of cheekpieces could spark a miraculous return to form and if they do, he can make a big impact in this company. Rocking And Reelin was not disgraced on his chasing debut over 2m1f at Hexham and the step up in trip should suit so he is worth a second look on his handicap bow. Jan Jandura still appeared to have plenty to offer when coming down at Musselburgh last month and he is respected here.

Runswick Royal made a winning debut at Haydock last month and he has to be respected but carrying a penalty to victory in bumpers is seldom easy and this looks particularly competitive. Zermatt, Biggins Boy and Midnight Thomas all make plenty of appeal on debut and so does PLAIN SAILING. His trainer has a 33 percent strike rate in bumpers and this newcomer certainly looks the part on pedigree.
