The form Amlak's fifth in a Listed race at York last time has not worked out particularly well, plus she has to overcome stall eight today, but the daughter of Invincible Spirit merits the utmost respect. CARSON CITY only found a useful rival, who already had racecourse experience, narrowly too good at Beverley on his debut and is taken to go one better today. Super Julius has shown a decent level of ability in both starts to date and he is another who could take advantage of a low draw.

There have been valid excuses for Newera's two most recent efforts and he is arguably better judged on his narrow win over 1m2f here three starts ago. The drop back in trip should not be a problem for TRENDSETTER, who was keen early on over 1m5f last time and he was not beaten far by two in-form rivals over C&D the time before. Others to make the shortlist are Modernism and Sellingallthetime.

In a highly-competitive contest, the marginal preference is for MORANDO, who bolted up in a maiden at Windsor last month and a mark of 86 may underestimate his ability. Sky Ship was fifth in a handicap that at Sandown is working out really well last time, but stall nine makes life tougher for him today. Alsaaden has run two solid races at this venue already this season and the step up in trip should suit this filly.

APPLETON was deemed good enough to contest a hot sales race at Doncaster on the back of his debut success at Pontefract last year and, now in the hands of David O'Meara, he could be well treated going handicapping for the first time on his seasonal bow. The most unexposed in the field, the son of Showcasing makes plenty of appeal and wasn't beaten far in the aforementioned Doncaster race, in which this year's Derby fifth Humphrey Bogart finished second. Reflektor and Celebration are also noted.

Tim Easterby won this with Breakable 12 months ago and boasts sound claims again courtesy of HONEYSUCKLE LIL, an agonising second at Carlisle last month. Up 1lb in the weights for her short-head reverse at the hands of Surewecan, the daughter of Alfred Nobel is clearly on good terms with herself and deserves to get her head back in front. Fidelma Moon and Desire are expected to put up most resistance.

Last year's winner Deauville Prince is back on the mark off which he won this contest readily 12 months ago and must be respected for local handler Tom Dascombe. He is noted, along with Mishaal and Fast Dancer, but preference is for DANDYLEEKIE as he remains feasibly treated despite a slightly disappointing effort at Doncaster last time and must go close on his form at Ripon and Redcar previously. Pea Shooter and Lexi's Hero can also get involved.
