Noel Meade has his string in rude health at present and has solid claims of adding another winner to his tally with MAXIM GORKY, who was seemingly outclassed at the top level at Leopardstown last time but looks capable of making his presence felt now dropped back into maiden company. King Vuvuzela scored impressively when running away with a Punchestown bumper latest. Scots Gaelic ran with promise on his hurdles bow at Gowran last time and is another to consider.

Rebel Fitz has built upon his C&D victory in August with creditable efforts at Galway and Clonmel subsequently and should go close. However, in receipt of 8lb from the last-named, ABSOLUTLYFANTASTIC gets the nod. Henry De Bromhead's charge showed signs of inexperience on his hurdles bow at Gowran last time but still got the job done, hinting he'd be one to keep a close eye on in novice company next time. Black Benny looks an exciting prospect too after scoring in style at Listowel latest and his presence adds spice to a fascinating contest.

WINTERDOWN STAR's Tipperary third earlier in the month marked a return to form and a reproduction of that effort, off 1lb higher, would see him go close. Others to consider are Vinnie and Bonifacio. The former returns from a lengthy absence and needs to bounce back from a poor effort at Down Patrick when last sighted. The main danger thus appears to be Bonifacio, who blew away the cobwebs at Limerick last time and will benefit from the return to further.

Scotsirish ran a fair race when sixth in the Kerry National last month and should give it a good go at a track where he is a course and distance winner. In view of his consistency, however, the handicapper refuses to cut him any slack, and of more interest is KING HIGH, who was beaten by just a nose at Gowran last time and looks capable of defying a 3lb lower mark now dropped in trip. Former Paul Nicholls inmate Free World has scored for his new trainer recently and merits consideration along with Norther Bay, who departed early at Navan last time and is looking to rebuild his confidence today.

FIRST LIEUTENANT clearly sets the form standard in this novice chase and the 146-rated hurdler, who scored at the Cheltenham Festival in the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1), is expected to continue the winning thread over the larger obstacles. The son of Presenting landed a Grade 3 at Tipperary on his most recent outing but while he appears to hold all the aces, it would be dangerous to overlook Oscar Dan Dan on his first start for Tony Martin. The market might be able to shed further light on his chances but while he is expected to have been readied, De Valira is another to be wary of.

LEND A HAND SON would appear to have a tough task on his hands from top weight but the booking of Ruby Walsh suggests a big run is expected. The drop in trip is expected to bring out the best in him after exertions at Kilbeggan last time over 2m3f seemed to take their toll. Mosman Park arrives with genuine claims if returning to his form of last season while Like The Da makes most appeal of the remainder.

TRADITIONAL ART ran with credit on his debut at Naas in March and having enjoyed a summer break, the Colm Murphy charge is expected to have been readied for this occasion and should take all the beating. Loch Garbh is beginning to look exposed having had five attempts but along with the Paul Nolan newcomer, Jayeffkay, he shouldn't not be discounted.
