Cardini is likely to be popular following an encouraging debut over course and distance a couple of weeks ago. That said, the son of first-season sire Magician will need to improve significantly for that experience given that he was quite a long way behind DECRYPT on that occasion. The latter filled second place in that contest and the way he stayed on suggested that he would be tough to beat next time out. Invincible Karma and Vidiyni also merit respect, while Kafu and Muntahez are newcomers that make the shortlist.

Gougane Barra showed some solid form in maiden company and has to be respected making his handicap debut with an opening mark of 69 looking more than fair. Althib, Red All Star, and Bay Of Skaill have all been knocking on the door in handicap company and have to enter the reckoning, but the vote goes to CHILLALA. She showed promise as a juvenile last season, with her third to Maybride at Leicester looking a good piece of form with the winner proving herself to be a decent handicapper this season, and the booking of Seamie Heffernan is one to note.

RATTLING JEWEL took this contest off a 9lb lower mark last season and could be hard to oppose having finished second on his first start for his new handler Joseph O'Brien at Naas, with Wayne Lordan a positive jockey booking. Nigg Bay broke his duck at Navan last week and has to be given serious respect, with Godolphin's C&D winner Snowstar and the ultra-consistent Oneoveryou others who must be considered.

MUSTAJEER has taken a big step forward since joining Ger Lyons and produced a career-best effort on his return to action this season when fourth behind Cliffs Of Moher in the Mooresbridge Stakes at Naas last month. He drops down in class here and connections appear to have found him a great opening. I'm So Fancy was third behind Turret Rocks last time when appearing to enjoy this sounder surface and she has to be respected along with Theobald, who will find this much more to his liking as opposed to running in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.

AARED showed no ill effects of an absence when landing a valuable C&D contest on his seasonal return last month and is expected to remain competitive following an 8lb rise. Bumbasina, fifth behind the selection that day, is weighted to take closer order, while it would come as no surprise to see the admirably consistent John Honeyman gain compensation for a near-miss at Ayr last time. Captain Cat is dangerously treated on his best form in Britain and is another with place claims if his stamina holds out.

The presence of the 96-rated RASHAAN in the field here puts several of those at the bottom of the weights out of the handicap. Colin Kidd's six-year-old has been in good order over fences lately and looks the class act in the line-up now returning to the level. Aydoun needs to step up on his C&D effort last time but is at least racing off his proper mark. Recent 1m 5f Navan third Jan Van Eyck has place claims, despite being 5lb wrong, if improving for this step up in distance.

It is extremely hard to oppose LATROBE, who chased home two high-class rivals in maidens prior to finishing second in the Group 3 Gallinule Stakes over 1m 2f here two weeks ago. The step up in trip should not be a problem for the son of Camelot and he can take this race prior to returning to stakes company. Baliyad is entitled to improve for his recent debut experience, while Desert Chorus is an interesting newcomer.
