Harris Bay is an interesting contender on his seasonal reappearance. He has won on his return from a break in the past and took advantage of a lower hurdles rating to score at Wincanton in January. However, he is 10lb higher here and faces no easy task. With the Nigel Twiston-Davies team in flying form, the verdict goes to FLEMISH INVADER who won at Perth last time and could be capable of further improvement. Sunnyhillboy will be a popular selection and he can get involved.

This will not take too much winning so a chance is taken on LEPRECHAUN'S GOLD who is unexposed over hurdles and has enough form on the flat to suggest he can make his mark at this level. Royal Prodigy will be a tough opponent but he might just benefit from the outing on his seasonal reappearance. Safin was placed at Sedgefield last week and could be capable of making the frame again this afternoon.

A competitive beginners' chase in which a few have claims but GONE TO LUNCH is the stand-out horse on his form in novice hurdles last season. On his latest outing he was only beaten a neck in a Grade 1 Novices Hurdle at Aintree and had previously performed with credit in Grade 1 and 2 contests at Cheltenham. Wasntme is an interesting recruit from the point-to-point sphere and is worth keeping an eye on. Kornati Kid was progressive over hurdles last season and should have a bright future as a chaser.

Present Gale will be tough to beat if reproducing the form of his Southwell success in August and is sure to be a popular selection with Tony McCoy on board. However, it could pay to oppose him with EXTRA BOLD who looked a much improved performer when scoring with authority over this C&D in May. At a bigger price, Lucky Luk could run a big race if the fitting of a visor has a positive effect.

Evan Williams is a master at improving horses and he has done it again with Will The Till, who is potentially very well in carrying a 7lb penalty for a cosy success at Huntingdon over 2m5f last week. Figurita needs to improve on what she has achieved so far but it would be no surprise if she makes the frame on her first try at this longer trip. QUIL EST BEAU makes his handicap debut and gets the nod as it is highly unlikely that we have seen the best of him.

David Pipe saddles three and the betting market is likely to be the best indicator to which of the trio is the main contender but it could be Quaddick Lake. He was in the process of running a good race when falling at the last on his hurdling debut at Cheltenham last year and is better than his subsequent efforts suggest. Weather Front recorded an easy success at Cartmel in May and should be considered with his stable in fine form, but COPPER BLEU won a NH Flat event in style in Ireland in January and showed he has a bright future when fifth in the Grade 2 bumper at the Grand National meeting. He gets the nod.

Winged D'Argent is a most interesting recruit from the flat. He was decent on the level and is capable of making his presence felt at the first time of asking over hurdles. RURAL REBEL makes his debut under Rules for David Pipe and he could be the one to follow here. He showed plenty of promise when placed on his only point-to-point outing and must be respected today. Dalyan Dancer was disappointing on his two NH starts last season but is likely to be capable of better and could be in the shake-up.
