ANNALUNA displayed improvement when making her second start over timber at Stratford in similar company latest and, while pitched against the boys for this assignment, she can make full use of her weight allowance (7lb) and is respected in the first-time visor for shrewd connections. Whipcrackaway is another interesting contender on the back of his fourth in a competitive event at Newton Abbot, while Feb Thirtyfirst and Fine Resolve are also noteworthy in the build up.

If FIRST FANDANGO is able to reproduce his good hurdle form over the larger obstacles, Tim Vaughan's charge will prove tough to beat on his chase debut. Returning from a summer break, he's expected to have been well readied for this at home and the 143-rated hurdler may just prove a class above his rivals. Of those, There's No Panic hasn't been seen since April '11 but his hurdling form brings him into the reckoning and the market may prove best guide, while course winner Marshal Zhukov rates best of the rest.

The penny finally appears to have dropped with COFFEE and Jonjo O'Neill's charge can complete the hat-trick under AP McCoy. His son of Beneficial has thrived since making his handicap bow at Worcester last month and he remains 7lb ahead of the assessor under today's penalty following an accomplished Uttoxeter performance 12 days ago off a mark of 109. In a competitive contest, however, C&D winner Hi Note isn't to be overlooked under a similar penalty on the back of her easy Stratford success, while Tony Star sets a good standard and must also enter calculations.

The hat-trick-seeking Mister Matt has since franked the form, on two separate occasions, of MARODIMA's 17-length romp at Newton Abbot in May and Jamie Snowden's charge can defy a 10lb rise for that and gallop these rivals into the ground from the front. He's versatile in regards to underfoot conditions and has won over the C&D in the past, but keep a close eye on King Edmund who takes a notable drop in class reverting to fences.

Aimigayle signed off with a respectable second at Uttoxeter off a 1lb lower mark in May and can go close here if ready to roll. A rejuvenated TRACKMATE is preferred, however, and can build on a taking performance at the Staffordshire track last month. Up 15lb for that five-length success, he wasn't for stopping over 3m on that occasion, so the step up in trip can ensure he remains a step ahead of the assessor. Galaxy Rock and Mavalenta are others for the shortlist.

17:00 Fontwell (Class 4) (4YO plus)

NUDE AND NURDLE is up 7lb for his C&D success last month but Nigel Twiston-Davies' representative displayed his guts and determination to hold Persian Run in a ding-dong battle to the line and the pair had pulled clear of anything else in the race. With that in mind, a similar performance can see him put back-to-back wins together but Double Chocolate is feared going back up in trip, while Princely Hero is no stranger to success around here.

17:35 Fontwell (Class 4) (4YO plus)

Southern Water Maiden Hurdle

An intriguing maiden hurdle finale can go the way of John Ferguson's HALIFAX. Mark Johnston's ex 87-rated Flat representative is expected to have been well prepared for his hurdling bow in the schooling ring at home and may just represent some value at the prices. Rendl Beach is two from two in bumpers for Rebecca Curtis and the booking of AP McCoy for his hurdling debut suggests he's held in high regard, while Newton Abbot third Nebula Storm completes the shortlist.
