If SILENCEOFTHEWIND'S latest effort over 7f at Thirsk was no flash in the pan, he could prove the answer to this. Highly tried last year, he's struggled this term, until finishing a closing second at the North Yorkshire track last week. With a step up in trip likely to help, he could take all the beating tonight. Brick Dust is arguably flattered by his form figures but could prove the danger if putting his best foot forward, although C&D winner Red Somerset, despite carrying a 6lb penalty, and Nahab, a double scorer on polytrack in the spring, are not without chances.

PULVERIZE went into many notebooks when a running-on second over 7f at Newbury last month on his debut. He seems sure to benefit for this step up in trip and, providing he handles the switch to polytrack, could take all the beating. Validus also impressed when third over 7f at Newmarket on his introduction and could take a hand in the finish but Almaas looks a nice sort and the Godolphin newcomer could run a big race first time out. Daneking looked green on his HQ bow but showed enough to come into the reckoning here.

This looks the ideal opportunity for AL MAHMEYAH to break her duck at the fourth time of asking. She's finished a close second - including over C&D - in her last two starts and has very little more to find to score this time. Show Flower can be given a chance on the pick of her form but consistency is a problem and she tackles the all-weather for the first time. Art Show and Iced Opal have shown signs of ability and could run well while the newcomer Riot Of Colour shouldn't be ruled out.

In a trappy contest, it might pay to side with EIGHTFOLD. Richard Hannon's Cadeaux Genereux colt has shown a solid level of form in defeat in three maidens up to 7f and looks sure to improve now switched to the nursery scene. Consistency hasn't proved Khazium's forte so far but he was a close third over C&D latest and has claims on that effort. Wolf Spirit and Eightfold can fight out the minor placings.

ALHIRA made a bright start to her racing career when runner-up behind Group 1 entry Besito over 6f at Newmarket last month and, likely to improve for this step up in trip, she gets the confident nod to go one better. Ziefhd confirmed promise shown on debut when landing her maiden at Folkestone 12 days ago and she must come into the reckoning today despite having to concede weight all round. Dalkova is of interest on her first public appearance for top connections and has a 150,000 gns price tag to live up to.

Andorn got within a length of winning over hurdles at Sedgefield recently and warrants respect on his return to Flat duty with Seb Sanders an interesting jockey booking, but CROIX ROUGE gets the tentative vote. Ralph Smith's gelding lost little in defeat when runner-up over an extended 1m2f at Sandown just over six weeks ago and that first outing since September will have blown any cobwebs away. Motirani had been running consistently well prior to his lacklustre performance at Catterick in late May and can be given another chance.

SPENSLEY is fancied to deliver the goods in a competitive finale. A narrow defeat on turf at Leicester recently shows that he's in good heart and returning to the scene of each of his three wins last year (all under Fallon) can only help. Direct Answer comfortably won his maiden over an extended 1m1f at Folkestone just over a fortnight ago and commands respect now entering handicap company, while Haylaman is worthy of consideration following his workmanlike victory at Newmarket.
