MUTAZAMEN is expected to put his experience to good use to see off the Sir Michael Stoute-trained newcomer Vodnik. The selection built upon a promising debut second over this trip at Newmarket to land a 6f maiden at HQ last month. There should be more to come from this 95,000gns yearling under Richard Hannon. Didnt I Do Well is entitled to put this experience gained to better use later into the year.

Godolphin look to have a very strong hand here and last year's winner Modun is proven under conditions and unlikely to be far away for Saeed Bin Suroor on the back of a fair Newbury effort. However, preference is for the Mahmood Al Zarooni-trained representative, CALVADOS BLUES, who sets the form standard based on his efforts over this trip at Meydan last year - the highlight of which was a third-placed finish behind Rewilding in the Group 1 Sheema Classic. Dandino is a solid 1m4f yardstick and looks best of the rest.

An outstanding race in prospect and two all-weather specialists, Nazreef and Switzerland, might represent some value on the back of poor turf efforts. Both can be given another chance back on polytrack but there is a potential Group horse in the making here and ROYAL EMPIRE is difficult to oppose. Saeed Bin Suroor's three-year-old accounted for the reopposing Weapon Of Choice with ease in his qualifier and looks an exciting prospect. C&D winners Chapter And Verse, Indian Jack, Lockantanks and Maverik complete the shortlist.

Sir Mark Prescott is renowned for eliciting improvement out of his handicappers when they are stepped up markedly in distance and AWESOME PEARL has proven no exception, striking over this track and trip last month and suggesting there could be plenty more to come, even though he's 4lb higher this afternoon. Red Orator wasn't to be passed on soft ground over 1m4f at Carlisle and looks the main danger, although a big run from Dora's Gift (also upped in trip) cannot be ruled out now she's fitted with blinkers for the first-time.

Brian Meehan is no stranger to success in this contest having won previous renewals with Dhanyata (2006) and Shumoos (2011). His INTIBAAH thus commands instant respect, even before his progressive sprint form, which includes a polytrack victory over this trip at Wolverhampton, is taken into account. On the back of a comfortable handicap victory there should be more to come and he's expected to take this rise in grade in his stride to see off the likely challenges of Odooj, Pearl Acclaim and Faithfilly.

There are likely to be further races to be won with the lightly-raced Rawaki off his present rating but slight preference is for ENERY, whose trainer excels in his placement of three-year-olds when taking on their elders over middle distances. The selection advertised his wellbeing when returning to the winner's enclosure at Epsom last month and he's unlikely to be inconvenienced by a slight drop in trip. A former stablemate of the selection, Nave has dropped to a good mark under David Simcock and looks another live player.

Idler doesn't score highly in the consistency stakes and although it would come as no surprise to see him bounce back from a lacklustre showing at Catterick, he has produced his best form over 6f to date. Over this longer trip it is probably best to side with the improving CANTAL, who broke his maiden over this trip on polytrack at Lingfield last term and looks to be coming nicely to the boil after two creditable handicap efforts on turf this year. C&D winner Golden Tempest is more exposed than the aforementioned pair but not without hope for a place.

AVONMORE STAR was given too much work to do at Epsom last time but stayed on well for third, hinting he'd be one to keep onside next time out. Although he now steps up in trip, Richard Hannon's gelding is bred to stay this seventh furlong and gets a tentative vote ahead of the consistent Emkanaat and Esprit De Midas, the latter of whom has dropped to within 2lb of his C&D-winning mark from April. Recent course (6f) third Midnight Rider looks worth a try over this longer trip and makes most appeal of the remainder.
