OHSOSECRET needs to build on her latest effort when fifth off this mark over 6f at Chelmsford, but remains only 2lb higher than when scoring over the minimum distance at Wolverhampton on her penultimate outing. From a good draw, and with her stable in form, she gets the vote ahead of Summerinthecity, who beat Seamster over this trip at Chelmsford last time and has fared better on the draw front this afternoon. Rocket Rob and Encapsulated are effective under these conditions and are others for the shortlist.

Both Tower Power and Dakota City are 4lb higher than when scoring last time and need to raise their game to follow up in this higher grade. Preferred ahead of both is gutsy front-runner GIANTSTEPSAHEAD, who battled on bravely to score by a neck over this trip at Kempton last time and could take plenty of catching on the front end if granted a soft lead in this small field. Camakasi (also engaged to run at Doncaster yesterday) is considered the main danger, having finished a close third in a 0-90 when last sighted on the level at Musselburgh in August.

PICKAPOCKET has plenty going for him in this maiden given he represents a powerful stable, is a potential improver in first-time cheekpieces and can call upon his superior experience where it matters most. Andrew Balding's 68-rated Fast Company colt is the standard-setter and, a good third on his all-weather debut at Chelmsford in November, he brings a good piece of Newbury form to the table and should take some stopping. Beleave outran odds of 100-1 when finishing fourth on her course debut over 7f and joins Evidence on the shortlist.

The eye is immediately drawn to Forceful Appeal, who is just 2lb higher than when scoring over C&D a fortnight ago in a race that the reopposing Intrude was some six and a quarter lengths behind. He makes plenty of appeal, but at the prices it could be worth siding with SPIRITUAL STAR. The son of Soviet Star is 4lb lower than when winning this corresponding race 12 months ago and from a plum draw in stall one the bottom weight could have the race run to suit at big odds. Solo Hunter and Jack Of Diamonds are others to consider closely.

The clear form choice is BEAR FACED, who beat three subsequent winners when he chased home Tasleet at Chepstow in June. The winner has gone on to take a Listed race and chase home Shalaa in a Group 2. The lengthy break is the major concern for the son of Intikhab but he should be capable of overcoming that in such a weak contest. The biggest threat could come from Sandacres, who should have more to offer after two promising efforts. Dor's Law is the most interesting newcomer, while Tamara Love is likely to leave the form of her sole start as a juvenile well behind as a three-year-old.

It looks best to side with those towards the top of the weights in this contest and in particular EXALTED. The relatively lightly-raced five-year-old is by far the least exposed of these, having had just eight career starts, and with three wins from his last four races he could well still be on the upgrade. Clement was a clear winner over C&D on Wednesday and would be a big danger if turning up in the same form, while Blackthorn Stick completes the shortlist.
