Jim Best has had his string in terrific form over the past couple of months and THREE SHIPS improved for the switch to the yard when winning a similar event at Taunton last month. He remains very well handicapped on the pick of last year's form having gone up just 6lb for that effort, and is open to further progress for current connections. Papillon De Iena also came home in front when last in action and should give another good account, while Lindseyfield Lodge can go well at a bigger price.

BOUNCING KING returned from a break to make a promising debut over fences at Carlisle last month and but for a mistake at the last that day, would have finished closer still. That experience should stand him good stead and Donald McCain's charge gets the vote ahead of suspect jumper Ronald Jack and Henry Daly's Inherent, who makes her chasing debut.

Few of these come into the race in good form, so it may be worth siding with recent Musselburgh winner OCARINA, who is an obvious exception to that point. The way he stayed on that day gives the impression this slightly longer trip will not be a problem, while a 7lb higher mark is far from inconceivable given he's only lightly raced. Corlande is potentially well treated over fences and can't be dismissed, along with Persian Native.

A chance is taken on VICTORY GUNNER to complete a hat trick of wins in this race, despite not being in the best of form since returning this season. It's likely that the selection has been campaigned with this race in mind since last year's success and off a 3lb lower mark this time around, he has to come into the reckoning. Super Road Train may be handicapped out of things for now, while The Dark Lord is often let down by his jumping, so recent course and distance winner Matmata De Tendron can emerge as the biggest threat.

SAWPIT SUNSET made a couple of mistakes when third at Ludlow last time, but went well for a long way on that occasion, and perhaps those errors were to blame for his weakening out of things late on. John Spearing's horses are in fair form at present, and his representative competes off a fair mark. Billy Murphy is less exposed than the selection and should go well despite shouldering top-weight, while Our Jim is also respected.

A tight handicap to close the card, but marginal preference is for SHAMROCK BAY. A course winner over 2m in March, Connor Dore's charge shouldn't be inconvenienced by the step up in trip and will have been put spot on for this outing after a spin on the Flat in November. Karathaena and Onefourfun both have winning course and distance form in recent months and are considered, along with the relatively consistent Saint Godegrand.
