El Batal won a modest event at Fontwell at 50/1 before being thumped next time. It will be a poor show if he wins this event under a penalty. Mortimer's Cross is much more interesting after his success over 3m at Uttoxeter last time and he can go close. However, Rebel Melody and COMMANDER VIC should make use of the weight allowance they receive. Preference is for the latter, who looked held when falling two out at Ludlow last month, but whose stable is in blinding form and improvement can be expected.

Grenfell usually finds a way to get beaten and is easy to take on under top weight. Barton Legend won a hurdle race at Ludlow last time and is interesting back over fences off a lowly mark. His trainer is a master at getting the best from his horses and he done a good job with this one in the short time he has it. The one who could be thrown in is NOBLE SHAM, who showed tons of ability last time at Bangor. If he settles a bit better here, he can take care of this lot.

Heart Strings looks the obvious starting point being the only last-time winner in the field, but she has not run since the summer and has a little bit to prove still. Tytheknot has failed to build on a surprise win at Wincanton back in March, while Ramvaswani has some sound form figures but continues to fine a couple too good. However, SUNDARBOB looks a likely improver judged on his plugging-on second at Hereford last month and could oblige at a reasonable price. Big Rob is well treated compared to his chasing mark, while any market support for Impek's half-brother Olympian would be interesting.

Different Class could prove just that if he takes to chasing. However, he beat very little over hurdles and his stable is hardly churning out winner after winner. Snow Patrol could literally be anything, but he seems hard to get to the track and could be fragile. Smart Street is better than he has shown so far but it will probably pay to give CATHEDRAL ROCK another chance. Wearing those famous Aldaniti colours, he has some of the best hurdling form on offer and can improve on last month's first effort over fences at Lingfield where he was eased when beaten.

Noel Chance is quite capable of producing one after a long layoff, so do not be surprised to see Tarongo go well after 983-days off the track. Ex-Irish trained Jazz Dance in unexposed and could easily be good enough to take care of this lot on his chasing debut. Thievery won a bad event last time at Hereford, but he is at the right end of the handicap to go close again. A tentative vote, though, goes to OISEAU DE NUIT, who has shown more than enough in two runs this season to suggest he should go close off his lowly mark on his chasing debut.

This is the day for CELTIC HEATHER if she is ever going to win a bumper. Her form and experience should be enough to see her go very close for a stable renowned in this sphere. Diamond Destiny chased home two very decent sorts last season, albeit at a long distance, and should find this easier. Hapeney was extremely disappointing when favourite last time, and is presumably thought capable of better. Watch the market for what is expected of Athaliah, Gold Reef and Rate Of Knots.

This looks far weaker than the first division, and not many of them make much appeal. The race looks a fairly easy opportunity for CHARMAINE WOOD to get off the mark, after she bumped into a real tartar last time in the guise of Big Eared Fran - the winner was by top-Flat stallion Danehill and was once in the care of Aidan O'Brien. Of the rest, Gemgaballou and Jane Doe make most appeal after showing modicums of promise.
