William Haggas is four from five with his juvenile runners here over the last five seasons and UNDER CONTROL can enhance that impressive record today. This is a lot easier than the maiden he contested on his debut at Newmarket and that opening run should have taken the fizz out of him as well. Like the selection, Spin A Disc looked very green on his introduction at Thirsk and he can be given another chance on this faster surface, while Equity completes the shortlist.

MASTER BOND backed up his narrow Nottingham defeat with a cosy win at Newcastle on Monday and, providing this doesn't come too soon after those exertions, he should be able to follow up under a 6lb penalty. Showdaisy has been fitted with cheekpieces after running a shade below expectations at Beverley and they could help her bounce back to form, while Astrophysics is certainly no forlorn hope off 1lb lower than when a close-up fourth at Hamilton.

Ryan The Giant flopped at Carlisle on Wednesday having been beaten by two lengths or less on his previous four starts. The opposition does not look the strongest but he looks risky to chance at present and top weight INVERNATA is preferred. The Irish raider was slightly disappointing when failing to justify favouritism at Tipperary latest over 1m1f but this trip is more suitable and she is taken to shed her maiden tag at the ninth time of asking. Magical Lasso rates best of the rest.

A number of these look to have chances, so WHITKIRK receives what can only be a tentative vote. Very effective at this sort of trip and rattling quick ground, Jedd O'Keeffe's charge arguably produced a career best performance when a neck second behind subsequent winner Hijran at Thirsk last time (sixth has also won since) and he makes plenty of appeal despite a further 2lb rise. Drago is an interesting player on his handicap debut and first start for David O'Meara while Playtothewhistle, wearing first-time cheekpieces, Almuhalab and Zamindo add further spice to the race.

Invoke is 1lb lower than when winning this race last year and has every chance if putting her best foot forward, while Hawatif was progressing nicely before running below expectations at York (12th) and it could be too soon to write her off. However, third in that race on the Knavesmire and shading the verdict tonight is FLORENZA. Chris Fairhurst's charge is a real likeable sort who seldom runs a bad race and, if adopting the same aggressive tactics as used last time, she could prove difficult to peg back in a race where there doesn't seem to be any obvious trailblazers .

NEUF DES COEURS ran respectably here last time when fourth behind Templier and a 3lb drop in the weights seems more than fair for Iain Jardine's charge considering she was too far out of her ground in a race where she needed to be closer to the pace. This looks a weak enough contest for her to get back in the winner's enclosure. Wor Lass won on Monday at Newcastle and runs under a penalty where she should give another decent account, while the selection's stablemate Stoneham cannot be discounted if bouncing back after a poor run last time.

See Vermont won here last Thursday but now has a 6lb penalty to contend with and preference goes to the runner-up from that occasion SEA OF GREEN, who ran her best race for a while on that occasion and remains on the same mark. The third Thornaby Princess also has to be considered, while Lorimer's Lot and Zebelini deserve respect on their recent outings.
