Dick Tracy probably brings the best form to the table and should be in the shake-up, while Century Dream looks to build on promising efforts at both Ascot and Newmarket. Preference, however, is for the beautifully-bred CROWNED EAGLE. There was lots to like about his debut performance at Haydock - off the pace and met trouble in running before staying on to take third - and there is certainly a lot more to come from John Gosden's charge.

Melodic Motion looks best of those with experience and is unlikely to be far away, but a chance is taken on one of a number of interesting newcomers SEA TIDE. The daughter of Champs Elysees is certainly bred to have plenty of ability and, with Hugo Palmer winning this race 12 months ago with the high-class Architecture, there is a fair chance that he will have kept a smart one back this time around as well. Tansholpan and Mubhirah also make plenty of appeal and are worth a market check at the very least.

So Sleek cost 450,000gns as a yearling so connections will be hoping for a big run from her on debut, but the vote goes to another newcomer in the shape LENOIRE. John Gosden's filly is bred to be smart, being a half-sister to four winners including dual Listed scorer Fencing, and she should know her job. Doreen is likely to want a fair bit further in time but is respected all the same, while Horseplay will be looking to put her experience to good use.

JOHN T CHANCE has done nothing but improve this year and won readily when fitted with first-time cheekpieces at Wolverhampton recently. The 'sideburns' are applied again and a 6lb rise probably won't be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Katebird has been knocking on the door and should be on the premises again, while Swell Hill, Eolian, Madam Prancealot and Tigerfish are others to keep an eye on.

Storm Rock looked well handicapped when claiming victory at Salisbury last time out but soft ground looks key to him and the four-year-old isn't guaranteed to encounter it once more. Top Beak has been in good form in recent weeks but has finished second on his last three starts, so a narrow vote goes the way of RAINBOW REBEL. Mark Johnston's charge almost landed a five-timer for this yard at Pontefract earlier this month, only losing out to a well-backed Godolphin improver. Arrowzone could prove best of the remainder.

SATCHVILLE FLYER has been in great form for David Evans this season and he won easier than the winning margin suggests at Ffos Las 22 days ago. The five-year-old has just a 3lb rise to combat for that triumph and another bold bid would be no surprise. Hilary J remains on the upgrade and she appeared to relish a drop to 5f when victorious at Beverley in August, while Apricot Sky is a consistent type who only found a well handicapped winner too good at Ripon recently in an 18-runner field.

The unexposed SWISS AFFAIR has enjoyed a break since May and since switched stables from John Gosden to Robert Cowell. The daughter of Pivotal was last seen in a Listed contest at this venue and should be much more at home now dropped markedly in class with a first-time hood. Aprovado remains on the upgrade and took advantage on the Newcastle Tapeta last time out. Michael Dods' charge remains well handicapped and could be the main danger, just ahead of the consistent Silken Skies.

A typically competitive finale and BONJOUR STEVE is fancied to take advantage of a drop down to class six company now racing off an 8lb lower mark. The booking of crack 5lb claimer Adam McNamara for the first time looks noteworthy and connections will be disappointed if the five-year-old isn't involved at the finish. Where Next remains a maiden but has scope for improvement and could relish a try at 5f for the first time, while last year's winner Prigsnov Dancer and three-time course winner Oscars Journey also enter calculations.
