Fogcutter finished sixth in a similar contest over C&D last time and should be thereabouts but this looks to chiefly concern Prep School and SWAGGER STICK, who were both were third in this grade latest. The latter isn't guaranteed to get round as his jumping leaves something to be desired but he's run well in much better races and his best form is good enough to land this.
With all of these seeing a racecourse in public for the first time, the betting market is likely to prove most instructive but SELECTIVE, related to the great Storm Cat, has been working well at home and gets the tentative vote on debut. Cherokee Star and Seminole Lass could also go well.
The Truffle Man won a $50k claimer here last time while Mr Windjammer and Be Bullish were first and second in a similar contest but all three are stepping up in class here. Law Enforcement won a $51k allowance optional at Belmont last time but was well beaten by MEGAPIXEL in a better race next time and the winner, not far away in a $100k race last time out, gets the vote here.
Magnificent Truth has been running well in this grade while Trickable did enough on her debut to come into the reckoning. Artistic Talent is dropped in class and has obvious claims but it's worth taking a chance on LACA, who has put in two good efforts in much better races at Churchill Downs. Dropped in class tonight - and with plenty more to come after two starts - she could prove too good for these rivals.
Vinnies Wild Tale was beaten less then three lengths when fourth in this grade on his debut while Persian has twice gone close in similar contests. They should be in the shake-up tonight but preference is for WINITBACK, a neck back and closing when second in this grade over five furlongs on his debut. With that run under his belt and up slightly in trip, he should go one better now.
WAR RULER produced a gallant effort in defeat when second over 6 1/2f here last time and could prove the one to be on in what looks a particularly open affair this evening. Ecton was 3 lenghts behind the selection on that occasion (finishing sixth) and may have to settle for a minor role once again, leaving New Member as the biggest threat.
RADICAL SABBATICAL made a pleasing racecourse debut when second over 6f at Belmont in October and, providing that he arrives fully wound up for his belated return, he could prove a cut above these rivals. Sharif Al Medina produced a much improved effort when second at Belmont latest and should go close here, along with Yield Bogey.
FRIDAY MEETING lost little in defeat when second over this track and trip latest and gets the confident nod to regain the winning thread tonight. Fiumes appeared to have plenty left up his sleeve when landing the spoils at Belmont last time and could pose the main danger, while recent Monmouth winner, Go Lex Go, is another worthy of consideration.
LYIN' HEART stayed on in determined fashion when second in a Grade 2 over 6f at Churchill latest and looks like the one that they all have to beat stepped up in trip tonight. Run Away And Hide remains unbeaten in both starts to date and is unlikely to go down without a fight, while Join In The Dance is another that cannot be ruled out.
