EARNEST BELIEF has undergone wind surgery since a respectable third at Worcester in July. Given he lost a shoe during that race, the performance can upgraded and this could be a good time to catch the low-mileage four-year-old. The consistent Way Maker is a strong threat to the selection and this marginal step up in trip should suit the son of Walk In The Park. There might be more to come from Rock Armour on just his second start over hurdles and he is speculatively championed for third place.
A few of these have shown enough to win a race including DATSTHEHOLYALLOFIT who would've won but for a bad late error here last time. She is clearly still learning but the bumper winner should progress again stepped up further in distance. Way Maker was twice successful in bumpers and brings in plenty of hurdling experience. He has shown a consistent level of form in third discipline and looks the main threat ahead of Earnest Belief. That rival was only caught late after being ridden too aggressively last time and has proven his stamina for this far.

Including a win on the Flat at Catterick last month, STELLARMASTERPIECE has won her last four starts and is very hard to overlook in a modest event such as this. The handicapper has taken notice, though, and an 8lb rise for her latest hurdles success obviously demands more from the Micky Hammond-trained mare. Curious Mrs Fox and Yanka Blue look best placed to take advantage should the selection falter.
Stellarmasterpiece has been thriving in both codes this summer and is likely to prove popular despite a further 8lb rise. She is respected but a chance is taken with the unexposed CURIOUS MRS FOX who has been crying out for this step up in trip for a while. She has been running into form in handicaps and looks on a dangerous mark judged on her maiden runs. Veteran Lone Star has returned to form of late and remains well treated on his old efforts so may do best of the remainder.

Rain-softened ground conditions might have counted against GETAWAY JEWEL when unable to follow up on his Worcester victory at Cartmel recently. The veteran is still more than capable at this level and often runs well here. Dexter finished third to the selection three weeks ago and a 1lb nudge up in the handicap shouldn't prevent another solid effort, while American Empire is a potential improver on his fencing bow.
An open race can go to TROPICAL TALENT whose sole victory to date was gained at this venue over a similar trip. He is on a workable mark and is entitled to come on for his first run on the year on the Flat which was a solid effort. The largely consistent Getaway Jewel is another who usually runs well here and although he holds no secrets from the handicapper he looks a big threat. Bumper winner American Empire is also of interest starting out over fences off what looks a fair mark based on his best hurdle form.

Having been denied by just a short head over 2m1f here recently, Glory And Honour is high on the shortlist. Although a return to 2m4f shouldn't pose any issues for the Elusive Pimpernel gelding, LORIKO looks more progressive. The five-year-old has scored three times this season and he ticks plenty of the right boxes. Ladies Day is having only her second start in handicap company and isn't easily dismissed.
LORIKO can defy top weight. He's already won 3 times in small fields on fast ground this summer and is potentially thrown in back in a handicap. Ladies Day's progression halted last time but the form has been franked and she looks on a fair mark judged on her maiden win. PERGAMON has been in fantastic form in this discipline and a four-timer could be on the horizon. A 2lb rise in the handicap for his game victory at Perth in July looks fair and he may have enough in the tank to deny King Ulanda a brace. The six-year-old has been mixing it up between timber and fences and another good showing is forecast. Max Of Stars can chase the pair home.
Recent C&D winner Saint Polo has proven progressive in this sphere and will likely prove popular. However he raced lazily over fences earlier in the week and has had a busy spell so may need a break. Instead PERGAMON is preferred on his return from the Flat having racked up a hat trick in this discipline earlier this year. He idled in front in his last victory so may have had more in the tank and a further 2lb rise looks lenient. King Ulanda also did nothing in front when winning last time so may prove to be the main danger on favourable good ground from just 3lb higher.
