POPE GREGORY was just denied on his last outing at Salisbury over 7f and could make his presence felt stepping back up in trip. He previously won a handicap over this course and distance off a mark of 55, but finds himself 6lb higher now. Power On seems his biggest threat, having been raised 1lb from his last victory at this course over 7f. Odd Socks Havana finished fifth at Pontefract latest, but a return to this course and distance, over which he won previously, gives him a squeak.

CHEF DE TROUPE returns to this course following a below-par third over 1m6f at the start of May. A step up in trip should suit him, though, given he was denied by half a length over this distance at Southwell. Quiet Thunder placed third in that contest but, despite being 4lb better off with her rival now the gut feeling is that the form will be upheld. Tulane could play an interesting part in this having dropped 1lb from his previous run.

Seeking to secure a treble is the Marco Botti-trained EL BELLO, who arrives off the back of a three-length victory at Newcastle. He's 8lb higher but shouldn't find that too tough to handle given the nature of his last win. Galileo Glass is now 6lb higher than his last winning mark and may prefer a longer trip. Dark Swansong returns to the all-weather following a below-par run at Goodwood last time and could make his presence felt.

ASRAABB looked very green when fifth at Lingfield on debut last month and should have learned plenty for that experience. The Roger Varian-trained daughter of Dark Angel was slowly away on that occasion and the penny didn't appear to drop until late when she made plenty of ground up in the latter stages. Tango Tonight looks the obvious danger having finished runner-up over C&D. Rebel Love has shown signs of ability already and has the hood applied for the first time.

NATIONWIDE is difficult to oppose having won both his starts for John Butler, most recently over C&D. The 10,000 guineas spent by the trainer for the son of Exceed And Excel from the Sir Michael Stoute yard appears to be a shrewd bit of business so far. Rebel Redemption was a winner over C&D in March and is slowly coming back down the weights, so he must be taken seriously. Joe Fanning has his only ride of the day on Gobi Sunset, who drops down in trip for the first time in over a year.

GLORIOUS CHARMER has been given a 1lb rise for his battling win over Decision Maker last month and is the selection to follow up. The six-year-old gelding has won two times over C&D already this year and, with both victories being by narrow margins, he remains on a relatively attractive mark. The Nail Gunner was a tad keen when fifth at Kempton last month and a stronger pace would see him in a better light. Q Twenty Boy was second over 5f at Nottingham last time and a return to this track and trip should suit.

STARTER FOR TEN was given a break since comfortably seeing off his rivals at Kempton last December and a 5lb rise may prove lenient as he looks to follow up here under Silvestre De Sousa. Not beaten far over C&D last time out and a winner here in January, Martineo can give him the most to think about, along with Youllovemewheniwin, who could be well suited by dropping back in trip.

CAREY STREET may have disappointed at Haydock last time out but a return to the all-weather and especially to Wolverhampton should be far more to his liking, having won well over C&D on his penultimate start. Daheer is another who enjoys it around here and must enter calculations alongside Plumette, who has ground to make up with the selection. Equion and Greek Flame are capable of being in the mix as well.
